I'm a fan of my everyday tank: the Rolex Datejust, I get it cleaned every 5 years like clockwork....

I use a relatively inexpensive Seiko chronograph that I also scuba dive with.

I use a timepiece that fits in the little pocket in my Levis just great.

For Christmas, my wife gave me aBreitling "Emergency Mission." Yeah, I know - I hope - that I'll never need to use the EPIRB function, but it is a fun watch and keeps perfect time.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

To add to the occasional lifestyle polls, I wonder what watch brands/styles my fellow P-car owners (or would-be owners) prefer.
These are a couple of my more beloved: an old (1993) steel Cartier Pasha and fairly new gold and steel Cartier Roadster, both automatic (tiptronic
) movements. For me, Cartier and Porsche somehow go together.
No pics, but a couple of my favorites currently are my IWC Flieger Chronograph, Breitling Super Ocean Pro. Even my beater watches are automatics. The only way to go.
Jeez, I'm beginning to feel like a pauper. I once had a Rolex gold and steel date/just but was seeing too many so transitioned to Cartier. I really like the submariner with the blue face, though. Very striking. And the Omegas are classic.
I'd like to see some pics, especially of the Franck Muller - those are awesome - and some of the other lesser known models.
I have an Omega Seamaster Professional that I wear almost every day.
I have a Ulysses Nardin GMT that I wear quite a bit, but not as much. Mainly because I have tiny wrists and the leather band has stretched to the point where even on the last hole it is too big for my wrist.
The wife says she bought me a new watch for our anniversary, and I will get it later this month. Don't know what it is, but I think it is the new Omega Seamaster with the auto movement and orange dial.
Porsche Limited Edition Chronograph to commemorate new 911 when 996 came out. They only made 1911 of them. Silver with silver face. Made by Eterna(same company that makes Breitling internals.
Zenith Gran Chrono XXT
Panerai Luminor
Ernst Benz Chrono
I allow myself to purschase one watch a year. The feeling I get wearing a nice swiss watch is better than the feeling I get from my Porsches.
I saw a thread like this on my Range Rover forum - some of those guys are scary.
Anyway, my favorites are my Panerai 111, and my Rolex GMT - SS with black face. Timeless.
I am glad to see there are some Panerai fans out there - it is still a little known brand, but their watches look like nothing else in my opinion.
I wear a simple Casio digital. In addition to telling the time, it has an altimeter, barometer, digital compass and thermometer. All for less than a 100 bucks. I just haven't caught onto the expensive watches. If all you want to know is the time, then why bother ... ?
I understand the case for wearing a cheap watch. However, the same case can be made for driving a Ford Focus rather than a 911.
Both get you from A to B, both can do the speed limit. Therefore, both do the same basic thing...
1948 IWC Portugieser and 1987 Rolex GTM blue/red.
Discoganya: you're right. Only spend money on things that excite you. If watches don't have your interest, that's cool with me. I would encourage you to check our=t of few older watches. You may catch the bug.
Cheers!
Here's my current selection:
D. Dornbluth & Soehn 99.0 (on order)
Martin Braun Tetounia S (1 of 250)
Omega Dynamic Chrono circa 1999-2000
Tissot T-touch for daily use and sports
Favorite brands are:
A Lange & Sohn, Glashutte Original, Panerai and Chronoswiss, to name a few.
My Ford Focus is much faster (corners and straights) than my 911...
I also have the most affinity for my basic seiko compared to my other more expensive timepieces.
porsche is faster than civic, but u can't see any watch is "faster" than casio
i admire those watches, but quartz came and killed them all.
just like after 20 years, we burned all the oil, our be-loved porshce will be a museum piece.
Rolex GMT blue and red face most days.
Alternate is Omega GMT 50 year anniverday.
I love them both! Before I ad the James Bond Omega, but the service at Omega (swatch) has been a dissapointment last few months.
Steve
Another vote for Omega Seamaster, automatic of course. Daily worn and always in style whether diving, dressed up or casual.
My favorite is Daytona. Rolex submariner is nice looking but a little too bulky.
I like watches a lot and have one or two nice ones and several cheap watches I like even more:
Omega Deville Prestige Automatic (automatics are a pain in the a$$ - I don't care what the watch guys say)
Porsche Design P6612 PTC Titan Automatic (also a pain in the a$$)
Breitling Colt Ocean (I chose Quartz and love it! Best-looking watch face ever. Battery lasts 8 years!)
Timex Triathalon (I wear it to every track day)
Citizen Titanium solar-powered deal (The one watch I'd want if stuck on a deserted isle)
Swatch "Skin" all-black (Looks great with a tuxedo)
Personally, I think choosing a quartz watch over an automatic is as heretic as choosing tiptronic over manual. I prefer the heretic choices for both.
'02 C2 - driven daily, rain, snow or shine
I have couple of Omega SeaMaster Professional... The latest one is the new Ocean_Planet with black dial and thick black rubber strap. I love the sporty looking of these Omega watches.
Cheers,
-Bao
I have a Seiko that my wife bought me 23 years ago. It has never been cleaned (internally) and keeps perfect time. The only down side is that I have to replace the battery every two years.
Rolex Daytona white face, Rolex Explorer 1, Polar Heart rate monitor & watch, for running / working in the yard.
I dont know why I keep the Explorer, I havent worn it since I received the Daytona. Every now and then I think of selling it, but I cant part with it. Maybe I will keep it for my son.
D-Train
OK, I'll be the wacko. Don't own a watch.....period. Have never worn them, can understand the basic appeal, but the only watches that I ever go "wow
" about are the heavily jeweled Rolexes
Nice watch collection guys.
These are the ones left in my collection:
-Breitling Navitimer 806, 1965
-Jaeger LeCoultre 1950's
-Jaeger LeCoultre Master Geographic
-Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso
No one owns the Tag Carrera?
The Carrera Panamericana was an epic race that was started in the 1950s and attracted many of the leading drivers of the time. Juan Manuel Fangio, the famous Argentinian driver who was Formula 1 World Champion five times, won the race in 1953. To pay tribute to this unique adventure, in 1963 TAG Heuer launched the Carrera Chronograph that combined refinement with the spirit of sport. It was an immediate success. It has been modernised but still retains its sober elegance. The Carrera perfectly embodies the vibrant memory of the era of Gentleman drivers.
watches are so personal items it all depend on your perference. forget about the price and brand, I think every car guys at leat should have one TAG Heuer Classic series in your collection. Monoca, Monza or Carrera. to me, that's the watch go with Pcar most.
Franck Muller crazy hours are on top of my target list.
I got a Breitling Colt ChronoOcean (blue face) as a wedding gift and a Cartier Tank (which my wife wears all the time). Also own a Movado (but haven't worn it in 15 years and a Citizen diving watch (from my time in the Seals...haven't worn that one either in 15 years).
I see a lot of guys on this forum with watches I love...Patek's and Omega's...maybe when I am modded out I will start collecting more watches...but just bought an BMW X5 and there are a couple of things I can mod..on that vehicle.....so the watches got to wait!
Tag 6000, Baume & Mercier "Capland" gold/stainless automatic. Frederique Constant automatic clear back. all great watches, but I may also add a Brietling soon to the collection.
Club411, I love the Zenith. They are great watches, I have two of them one is more a classic suit style watch in platinum and the other is a sportier fly-back chrono. I also have two Tags, a Montblanc, Swss Army and a Timex (it was my grandfather's - not pictured).
I'm on my second Rolex Submariner (stainless with black face). I own a Rolex not for the snob factor, but because it happens to be a well-engineered piece of equipment that does exactly what I need it to do. (Kind of like a P-car, huh?) I used to race sailboats -- I was going through $300 Seikos on a way-too-often basis as they were slam-tested and dunked - often along with me. The first Submariner lasted 10 years and survived all kinds of adventures. . I am the editor of a boating magazine, and in this industry, Submariners are as common as khakis on a yuppie. What is interesting is how many of these wathces are fake.
My family wigged out when I bought my first Rolex - I was 24 at the time adn worked my a** off to afford it. For Christmas, my wife gave me aBreitling "Emergency Mission." Yeah, I know - I hope - that I'll never need to use the EPIRB function, but it is a fun watch and keeps perfect time. I also get quite a workout wearing it.
Fossil Speedway - $57 on ebay.
I also wear shorts and Sketchers to work.
With all of these "What property do you own", "what watch do you own", "what cologne do you own", I'm starting to think Rennlist is a corporate shill for a lifestyle marketing group...
Wristwatches are so 20th century! Just like carburetors and distributors.
I use a timepiece that fits in the little pocket in my Levis just great.
Not only does it tell what time it is (synchronized to the NIST Cesium Fountain Atomic Clock, which is the Primary Time and Frequency Standard for the United States), it is a personal communicator, still and video camera, calendar, address book, and GPS mapping device.

"Real men don't wear jewelry, just watches & cars . . . which says a lot about a person." - my father
Wow, these are some fancy watches! I use a relatively inexpensive Seiko chronograph that I also scuba dive with. I had it down to 130' several times and it just keep on ticking.
No watch. Bang em up too much. The hands of my last Rolecs fell off, but what do you expect from something you buy on a corner in NY. ;->
BTW, nice choice of watches!
slaaw: 130' w/o narking? Lucky you.
I'm a fan of my everyday tank: the Rolex Datejust, I get it cleaned every 5 years like clockwork....
Keeps the time well, takes one hell of a beating, but I hate changing the date on off months.
I have 4-5 movado's that I LOVED when I was a kid. They are not worth anything, so I keep them in a drawer and change batteries every 2 years, again like clockwork...
But my next watch is a vintage Patek, and I also love the old classic 1950-60's IWC caliber 89 watches, I love their understated beauty and simplicity and only those who would know a cool watch would realize what they were, so mug factor in NYC is much lower than my Rolex.
Alot of great watches on here, I'm jealous of more than a few of you....
New Style Rolex Presidential, Rose Gold, Diamond Roman Numbers, Black Mother of Pearl Face
Have about 12 watches, none others worth really mentioning by name except the Porsche 911 Chrono.
(I have a watch Fetish...)
I "only" own a 993.

Tag Heuer SEL. After 11 years I've finally sent it in to get serviced, as it was no longer watertight. Hopefully I'll get it back sometime this year, but I've heard not great things about the Tag (LVMH) factory service time.
Bob
Had my TAG in for resealing too last year and my jeweller got it back to me within 3 weeks. BTW: I use it for scuba diving so it's pretty important that it be watertight.
I wear a Casio G-Shock or Suunto Vector if climbing/mountaineering. 35 years ago I worked as a buyer for an import company and bought watches from several manufacturers in Switzerland. I still have a few today. As I recall there was about a 1000-2000% markup between ex-factory and retail. This insider position destroyed my potential for appreciation of expensive watches at a young age.
I however do understand somewhat the facination with watches as my Suunto has given me as much pleasure and probably more than some of the mega $K watches have given their owners.
I love watches...
Tag Heur F1 (weekend beater)
Breitling Super Ocean, w/ coral face (daily beater)
Panerai PAM 209, stainless/ti

Lots of great watches on this thread!
Mine:

Panerai PAM 105
I want to pick up that TAG Carrera posted on page 2 -- nice looking watch!
Everyone has a different priority. I know a guy who own almost all Limited Edition Patek including Ref 5959 Split Second Chrono and a Sky Moon Tourbillon pt. He drives a 1999 VOLVO. I know....Crazy.
I wish I had a Carrera GT but I live in another part of the world where a brand new Hummer H2 costs USD285,000 and a Porsche Boxster cost USD230,000.
That's right; be thankful that you have the luxury of owning nice cars for much much less. :-)
Regards.
Question for you serious watch aficionados. What is it about watches that stir your emotions? I like Porsches, got a couple, I like Harleys, got several, I like guns, got too many, I like cameras, got lots, I like tools, got too many, I love original works of art, got very little, I love rocks (that I find), got lots. I don't like jewelry, pens, dress shoes, ties, belts, cell phones or ipods. I like my Suunto Vector watch as a tool but don't care for watches in general.
Yea, I must be a misfit.
Hundreds of pieces of tiny but precise gears and screws put together that not only tells time, but many (more expensive models) even give other complications such as split second chronograph, minute repeater, tourbillon, etc. They're pieces of arts. And, it's all mechanical.
Split Second Chronograph, Minute Repeater, Tourbillon...those are indeed interesting complication. Don't forget Perpetual Calendar that can go directly from February 28 to March 1.
Now add all those four complication and you have a super complication...and it's all mechanical.
I love and collect watches, knifes, guns and harley as well. Watch is sort of like Harley's moto which goes like " ...if I have to explain it, you wouldn't understand"...something like that. :-)
Just FYI..
One of my favorite Watch forum is
http://www.thepurists.com
They have a special section for Automotive and guess what car picture on the web page is?
I'm pretty sure that Porsches are the most discussed cars.
I think that level of markup from the factory is pretty common on most designer goods. While not justified, I guess you need to consider how much time and money was invested in procuring the factory, setting it up and the yields the factory produce at.
Omega Seamaster Chronograph
Breitling Navitimer

Tag Heuer

Rolex DateAdjust
- I wear the Omega day to day - everything else is just on occassion.
Next ones: Omega Seamaster Americas Cup, Rolex Submariner, Panerai, Girard-Perregaux, Hublot.
Did your jeweler do the work, or did he send it to the factory center (in New Jersey for the US)? I had to send it to the factory folks. I should have clarified that the way I discovered it was no longer watertight was by getting water inside the case, at which point the watch stopped.
Bob
I have a Rolex Submariner and a cartier 100th anniversary santos (which btw stops working all the time)
I absolutely love the Rolex Daytona, but I'm not a baller like some of you guys here
I like Omega's myself. They're refined, functional, aesthetically attractive IMO, yet still affordable compared to more exclusive brands that retail for more than any of my current automobiles. I guess I enjoy them for much the same reasons that I am a Porsche owner and enthusiast. The Omega Seamaster Pro is my current favorite (the new Bond watch). Now if we could just buy them with that laser..........
Havent' owned a watch since elementary school. My favorite was the transformer velcrow watch , until one day it decided to stop working...lol.
If I had to go buy one nowadays, it'll be cartier or rolex(oyster perpetual day/date).
Rolex GMT II but it doesn't keep good enought time so I wear a Suunto Vector. The Suunto is the best watch I have ever worn. It is big, bulky, but light. It keeps good enough time to fly with unlike the Rolex.
I just had the Rolex sent in for the 3-5 year but it still is only made to hold + or - 5-15 seconds for 24 hours and that isn't good enough. Within a year of owning it wasn't accurate enough. It was losing 15 seconds a day.
