Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The first time that I had the issue was the day that I put cat bypass pipes on my car.

But my point was that we shouldn't always jump immediately to the most complicated potential cause for the problem and completely ignore the things that can be checked easily and quickly.
Leading evidence: 'day' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'day' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check easily and quickly' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Here is my low iq answer- After I put the cat bypasss pipes on the car was so unbelievably fast that the over filled oil started to froth- before the bypass pipes- the car was sooooo slow that the g-forces were not great enough to cause the oil to get scrambled by the crank.

I forget if it was the pre or post 02 sensor, but I am pretty sure that I looked it up prior to installing.

These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Also, is there anything that I need to do other than drain some oil (I am actually doe for a change so...) and drive around to burn off the oil that was sucked up.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

A few weeks ago I had an issue where I was accelerating hard around a corner and had a huge white/bluish cloud behind by car. I thought that it was a problem with my AOS so I changed it. Started the car (after sitting for two weeks in my garage) and everything was fine. I have been driving for a couple of weeks and everything is fine- until today. I was on a long straight road and there was a truck in front of me that I needed to pass. I passed him accelerating hard. I was in third gear rpm around 6500 rpm then developed a huge white/bluish cloud. I continued to drive- was spitting out a tiny bit of smoke but otherwise everything was fine. Since then, I have driven it a few more times, get smoke at startup otherwise ok. These are the same circumstances which lead to my first smoke experience- with only a few differences. first- i now have a new AOS, second- I was on a straight away-not a curve. Both issues occurred at the same gear/rpm. I have reached this rpm many times in the past few weeks but never in third or higher gear.
When I changed the AOS, there was a fairly large amount of oil in the plenum- as far as I can see- this was from the perceived AOS problem.
Yes, I have a CEL however that turned on when I put the bypass pipes on and has been on since.
I have accelerated this hard in the past however I never had this problem. The first time that I had the issue was the day that I put cat bypass pipes on my car. Could this issues be caused by cat bypass pipes? When I put the bypass pipes on, I only put one 02 sensor on both sides. I forget if it was the pre or post 02 sensor, but I am pretty sure that I looked it up prior to installing.
Could this problem be from the cat bypass pipes? Could this be from putting the wrong 02 sensors on (pre instead of post or visa versa). I find it hard to believe that I burnt out another AOS in 2 weeks simply from hard acceleration.
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Come on- there has to be a much more complicated answer than too much oil. Just kidding. I just feel like a real idiot. The oil level is slightly over full. The reason that I didn't consider this is because it has been this way for several months. I have not put any oil in since my last change several months ago.
Since I now feel like an idiot, does anybody want to speculate as to why I just now got the smoking issue. Here is my low iq answer- After I put the cat bypasss pipes on the car was so unbelievably fast that the over filled oil started to froth- before the bypass pipes- the car was sooooo slow that the g-forces were not great enough to cause the oil to get scrambled by the crank. Does this sound reasonable?
Also, is there anything that I need to do other than drain some oil (I am actually doe for a change so...) and drive around to burn off the oil that was sucked up.
I think you are being too hard on yourself by calling yourself an idiot! Uhmmm...... on the other hand..... has it crossed your mind that you may have changed the AOS for nothing?
Sorry, I couldn't resist! Just playing with you a little.
At least you have a Porsche to be an idiot about!
You should always diagnose problems starting with the simplest (and usually cheapest) causes and work you way up to the more complex (and costly) reasons for the problem.
Since you are a new lifetime Rennlist member Tim, I hesitate to disagree with you but...
Effective troubleshooting is the best way to diagnose which has nothing to do with simplest and cheapest.
On the bright side of things, changing the AOS was quite a learning experience. I gained a lot of knowledge and a lot of cuts on my hands and arms.
When the smoke issue occurred today, I was passing a guy who was being a bit of a jerk, right as I pulled in front of him, a gigantic amount of smoke poured out right in front of him. I am certain that he couldn't see for a second or two. Couldn't have happened at a better time.
I agree with you that effective troubleshooting is the best way to diagnose a problem. But my point was that we shouldn't always jump immediately to the most complicated potential cause for the problem and completely ignore the things that can be checked easily and quickly.
In his initial issue I don't recall him mentioning he had overfilled the oil. However, as mentioned above, Redridge did ask if he had overfilled the oil. Certain symptoms can have multiple causes. In the long run it is easier and less costly to eliminate the simple solutions first, especially if self diagnosing issues.
