on an unrelated note, do u know if there's a way to find out what code a CEL is throwing without using a scan tool?

maybe using the secret settings on the on board computer (the ones u get access too by fiddling with the a/c unit?)

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Generation: 20261026T200546Z · outcome-qualification-6. Deterministic extraction; no AI model inference. How we use sources

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know what causes this to stop happening? I'm speaking of course of how the window is supposed to lower itself when you pull the door handle so that you don't dummy the weather seals on the frame. Is it the regulator that needs to be replaced?

POST 2Original post

Listen carefully when you lift the handle. If you hear the regulator motor run for a fraction of a second, then you need to replace the regulator.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i can hear the regulator functioning and the window shift like a tiny fraction, but then it doesn't move anywhere. on an unrelated note, do u know if there's a way to find out what code a CEL is throwing without using a scan tool? maybe using the secret settings on the on board computer (the ones u get access too by fiddling with the a/c unit?)

Then just replace the regulator. It's a cheap part and it isn't a complicated or time consuming job as a DIY. AFAIK there is no way to do that. With the standardization that came with OBD II, most manufacturers have done away with all the proprietary "count the blinking LED" type of fault readouts that were popular in the late '80s and early '90s.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
