Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'right car, situation and price' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'right car, situation and price' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Recommend pressure can really smooth out the ride, particularly' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
I find that for long interstate drives running 2-3 psi under the recommended pressure can really smooth out the ride, particularly on bad surfaces.

The recommended pressure is actually for sustained high speeds (like autobahn) under full weight load.

I have a conference call today to set meetings for a project in LA.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
39 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

in a new to me 99 996. Should be a great way to bond. Meet Scarlett - 48K miles, maintained by Akers, very nice shape. It'll be good to get back in a 911.
Congratulations, should be a good trip, I did it from NJ to CO last year, VERY good way to bond. Before you leave the seller's driveway, you will need to post a pic!
Sounds like fun. Let us know how the trip went. I'm planning on a San Diego to Columbus, OH trip returning via North Dakota in May, so I can get an idea of what to expect for a long road trip.
if your still in seattle feel free to get in touch - our home is 7 blocks from Akers Porsche and i've known them for 25 years.
safe trip if you've already departed.
This will be my second trip bringing a 911 from SEA to DFW. In 1991 I bought a 70E and did the trip. This ride should be significantly more comfortable.
congrats on your "new" ride. great color combo. does it have Litronics? and Savannah (beige) Sport Seats?
it may be Fergus', a RL'rs former ride. (fgbh20)
Congrats!!! I'm envious. I regret not flying out to PHX to drive mine back to Tampa a year ago, but just couldn't find the time...but I do love a good road trip with a great car!
Orient Red - the most awesomest Porsche color ever.
You might play with tire pressures on the trip. I find that for long interstate drives running 2-3 psi under the recommended pressure can really smooth out the ride, particularly on bad surfaces. The recommended pressure is actually for sustained high speeds (like autobahn) under full weight load. Of course you will have to balance out ride with mileage and of course too low pressure will hurt tire wear. That's why a long drive might be a good opportunity to try out some different levels.
Enjoy, and give us some updates on the way. Hope it is not all interstate.
Unbelievable paint. It's like a mirror. Awesome colors. Both exterior and interior. You will have neighbors asking if it is brand new. Nice find my friend. I love Porsche owners (a lot of us) that take great care of their cars.
I just recently did Atlanta to Dallas. Not quite the trek that you will have, but a great bonding experience. Enjoy it. As some infamous RL'er always says "Drive it like you stole it".
I will see you at the PCA lunch one of these days I hope.
Take care!
Great looking car and safe travels! I drove mine from OH to Northern Va back in August. Nice way to bond with the car. Wish I would've documented my trip back.
Mark,
Have you set out on your trip yet? What are the road conditions like heading south to LA?
I'm looking at a car near LA and would be doing the same trip in reverse? Concerned about the weather heading up in the higher elevations though.
Mark -- just curious why you purchased your 996 out of the Seattle area? I'm a new user looking to purchase a 996 and live just outside of Seattle. Looks like there are hundreds for sale on Autotrader and there must be quite a few near Dallas. Were you looking for a particular color combination or are there just that many dogs out there that you had to look outside of your market to find a good one?
with the black - the savannah is much easier on the eyes -
I had savannah and in 99' it had some graphite color trim...I always liked the ones like you picked up - sweet!!
make sure you keep an eye on the siskyou mountain pass weather if you are traveling south from seattle on I5 - it can get very nasty very quickly - if you want some beautiful driving roads in and around near calistoga & napa calif hit me up.
i've done the drive 20x from seattle to SF/LA over the past 25 years.
I happened across this one on Pelican. Always loved this color and a friend there was able to inspect it. It was the right car, situation and price. Good luck on your search.
