If this will fit in, why not just use an open-end 19mm wrench?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

15 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

About 3 weeks ago, I was driving home from work, ~35 mph, just a normal cruise. Heard a chime and noticed an oil pressure warning, and saw that the gauge read 0! Before I could pull over, within about 4 or 5 seconds, gauge popped back up and warning went away. Have driven the car every day since, no issue, until yesterday, same thing happened. When gauge needle popped back up from 0, it seemed normal except occasionally would peg above the top (5) mark. Has anyone had experience with the pressure sensor failing? I can't believe that I am really losing pressure temporarily like that. Car is a 2002 C4S with 70K on it. Oil level is full.

POST 2Original post

Yes. Failure of sending unit is a common problem.

POST 3Original post

Yes, common problem, do a search. Both the connector and/or the actual sensor can be the problem. One of the cheaper repairs, especially if you DIY.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys, I'm a bit less worried now. Do you know where the sensor is located on the engine and how easy it is to get to? Anybody got a pic?

Posts #1, #13, and #74 here are all you need https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...ement-diy.html These sensors are JUNK and they belong to something in WWII... Ours are similar to this one. See how mechanical and delicate it is? http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/...ts-inside.html OilPressureSensor2.jpg

POST 7Original post

This is a very common problem, Ashai found you a great DIY. We actually have two different ones available. For more information and pricing Click Here .

really nice looking car - great avatar photo

POST 9Original post

Easy DIY. Just do a search. Cheap part as well. Be thankful its just the crappy sending unit and not CEF. Great car, BTW. The C4S models are the best of both worlds.

Passenger side near fire wall. Or if you have a 1972 2nd pic.

Same photo here. Interesting... http://otoreview.blogspot.com/2010/0...1-996-c4s.html Oh, it's one of those popular c4s photos...

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Correct, Ahsai. It is identical to mine in all visible ways, so I used it.

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I noticed that the link sent by Ahsai shows the guy modified a wrench by cutting it a bit more open. If this will fit in, why not just use an open-end 19mm wrench?

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I guess he said the 12-point makes it easier for the crowded space, probably shorter throws.

POST 15Original post

The tool combo in post #13 of that thread is the easiest. A crowfoot wrench ($10 for a whole metric set from harborfreight) + u-joint + long extension.
