Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

most of you normal folks will be unfaithful with a young italian mistress. i, on the other hand, have gone the opposite way, and find myself in bed with an old, fat, english lady. yikes, what was (am) i thinking. anyway, she's mine, and an odd stablemate to the 996, but definitely a different direction. british racing green, v12, love it.

POST 3Original post

Same here, still remembering Pierce Brosnan in the remake of The Saint series with the white XJ-S V12.

POST 4Original post

Jeremy Clarkson drove one on Top Gear not too long ago, and said it was one of his all time favorite cars, and he absolutely wanted one...that's saying a lot for a guy that has driven virtually ever car worth driving. When reaching for a different set of keys, that's not a bad set to have to go for!

POST 5Original post

Very nice. I love british racing green and I've always wanted to own a V12. Enjoy! Sincerely, Macster.

POST 6Original post

Just don't park a Serbian Arch Duke between those two...

POST 7Original post

Love that British racing green colour on both your Jag and a Porsche 996 cab which one of our posters owns on this forum down in Florida I think. What I call 'bottle green'....Anyway depending on where you live, the Jags have always had a bad reputation for body rotting in the damper climates ie:- Northern England. That being said, that Jag is one gorgeous vehicle and if garaged can come to no major body harm. I would love to see inside it. Please post photos of the inside for us. Front and rear if you don't mind. Thanks. Photos under the hood (bonnet) as well please. What is the year and the milage out of curiosity?

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

thanks for the encouragement. she is by no means a show car. and i mean EXTREMELY far from even being mistaken for a show car. so far no apparent structural rust. a few spots on the body. you can see one on the trunk lid in the photo above. but i'll have her up on the lift next week to give it a thorough inspection. its an 89. which is what i was looking for. all the right bits, none of the extras. abs, but no airbags. am planning on swapping in one of those nardi wooden steering wheels you'll see on an e-type (and 356's). sport seats, which were introduced in this model. one of the annoying things they introduced this year is the motorized seatbelts. what a pain. pulled the fuse on those so they're permanently back, much better than the "attack belts" as they're known to have a mind of their own. will post up some better photos next week, after i have a change to get her out and about. under the bonnet looks like a plate of spaghetti. makes me cringe a bit, especially when thinking about the cleanness of the engine compartment of the 996. 110,000miles. about what i was looking for, enough to know someone was driving it the past 23 years. similar to our p-cars. where else can you find a v12 for little-to-no money that will also provide that mechanical/intellectual challenge?

POST 10Original post

Reminds me of the Wheelers Dealer episode I watched recently. The guy spent so much time and effort in fixing the wood laminate on the center console. It was quite amusing to say the least

POST 11Original post

Nice, enjoy! Always wanted an E-Type but I am not a masochist

POST 12Original post

I had a mint XJS 16 years ago. I enjoyed it immensely. I threw the keys to my son on prom night. That girl would never leave him alone after that!

I had a '64 E-Type Series I in concours condition. Probably my favorite car that I've ever owned. It was simple and very straight forward to work on, dependable and very fun to drive fast. I took it on a 2K mile trip and did have a wheel bearing fail. I borrowed some tools and a lift in a service station and fixed it in a couple of hours for under $10, gave a $20 to the station mgr. Good times.

POST 14Original post

nothing sounds like a 12 cyl engine, except another 12 cyl engine.

Jeremy Clarkson hates the 911 though, so his opinion is a bit off...

Nice Jag! I actually had an Italian mistress once. She was a 1979 Alfa Romeo Spider Veloce. She was the same color as your Jag. She was a blast in the year that I had her. Eventually, she became too expensive to keep...

POST 17Original post

very nice! gotta love those small pistons... very smooth.

POST 18Original post

I love the XJS, the TWR XJRS is one of the best cars of the 80's.

POST 19Original post

Yikes,don't do it man,come to your $en$e$. I drive a 07 XK.. Run

POST 20Original post

You can coax some serious power out of that motor..

POST 21Original post

I've always had a soft spot for Jags. Nice find. One of my favorites.
