Leading evidence: 'Clean rads' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Clean rads' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Suggestion
My guess is that the PO forced the metal out or even broke something as he was changing the light fixture.

Suggestion
See thats what you get when a PO messes around changing the original pumpkins for clear side markers.

Suggestion
You can use a grind stone wheel to take off the point of the metal OR you can put the grindstone wheel on the side to make the metal thinner.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

OK, removed the bumper today and cleaned the rads and fixed the horn (yippee!). Reassembly has gone pretty smooth, with no extra parts. I'm down to the final part; installing the side markers.
The PO installed LEDs, so they are not stock. When I took them off, they came off pretty easily, but the little brass curvy bit was not attached. For the life of me, I cannot figure out how to get that piece back on and get the bugger installed. Any tips/links?
Helps immensely.
I just can't see HOW to get it in there. As you can see in my last pic, there is a metal piece already in there. I guess it "slides" in with that. I tried pushing hard, and harder. I guess I'll push really super hard and see if goes. Unless there is a method I do not know??
Thanks again for your help.
If you watch the first segment you should see how to put yours back in. I know it is a bumper removal vid but they cover the removal of the side marker just reverse it good luck....

So far this is a fail. All pictures and videos I can find all show the brass piece already in place. I find it odd that neither piece came out with the lights. so they must not have been too tight. Anyway, any last ditch ideas out there. I'd superglue them, but I'm not sure there is enough of the brass part to find purchase within the slot to take hold.
Thanks again, everyone.
the clip doesn't show that it broke off otherwise it would have a flat surface and you would see the broken part still in there. Those aftermarket lights are built too great. Just slide the flat side in the slot with the curved part away from the wires as seen in the pictures. You might want to put some glue on the side to keep it in place.. Which side are you messing with?
Thats just it, it won't slide on there. I'm headed to the store for some superglue. Will report back later today.
And yes, the light feels like a cheap piece of crap.
the side with like an tappered tip should slide into the slot. What side is that? I have one laying around the other side fell of on the freeway and i couldn't stop to pick it up... i think i have a right side..
See thats what you get when a PO messes around changing the original pumpkins for clear side markers. They don't even know how to do THAT correctly some of them. Them POs really P me O (no pun intended.) Half of them don't know there **** (***) from their elbow yet they mess around with the creation of top class Designers and engineers at the expense of a future owner. I hope you solve your problem. I wonder what other things he messed with on that car. Only time will tell I suppose.
I don't think I would use super glue just yet. keep thinking, you may come up with a simpler way.
Down inside the plastic slot where the metal is supposed to slide into. Can you see a metal piece that is supposed to come out before the clip will slide in? Maybe there is something down there not letting the clip slide all the way down. You say you are pushing really hard. Don't force anything at the expense of braking the plastic. How far does the clip go into the plastic part when you are pushing? Does it go in any distance at all then stop short? Or doesn't it even make a start? depending on how you are seeing things. You can use a grind stone wheel to take off the point of the metal OR you can put the grindstone wheel on the side to make the metal thinner. Depends on HOW the metal is not going into the plastic slot. Hope you understand that. Rather than super glueing which makes it a permenant fix and irreversible. Go easy with the grind stone and don't take too much away or that becomes a permemnant fix as well and also irreversible. Again good luck.
I had already superglued and it ALMOST works. As predicted, there just ins't enough surface area to apply glue to. Even with the glue dry, the clip pops off when inserting the light. Oh so close.
Hurdi, there is metal in the slot, as seen in pic #1. My *guess* has been that the metal tab slots between the plastic and the metal you see in #1. It doesn't keep the piece from sliding out to easily, but offers plenty of side-angle force need to clip the fixture into place. Make sense?
Damn, I wish I still had the pumpkins to compare to.
+1 on the metal as a spring to help hold the clip in place. You may be able to slide it out, insert the clip and slide "the spring" back in to add friction.
MPD425 if you are still reading, is it possible for you to slide or pull the metal clip out of the plastic holder? If so check to see if there is still anything down inside the plastic holder which prevents the metal clip from going back in. Easily I mean... Don't force the metal out. If it doesnt come out easily then don't even try it. My guess is that the PO forced the metal out or even broke something as he was changing the light fixture. Thanks.
Awesome pic. So mine are broken. They certainly don't look broken, but this makes a lot of sense as to why I couldn't figure the damn things out.
Are those clips common in an off-the-shelf way?
Otherwise, I may take Sneaky up on his offer.
