Any idea on location of the lights so I can check the bulbs?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

18 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok - so I picked up my C4S last week - and in general understand all the controls and read the manual and the list here on the forum but... there is a switch right below the PSM switch on left hand side of center console that I can't figure out what the heck it does? The manual says that it is for a footwell light but it doesn't seem to turn them on? Any idea on location of the lights so I can check the bulbs?

POST 2Original post

I have no such switch on my C4S. I'll be interested to hear what it does!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mine is a cab if it makes any difference... totally has me stumped and I can't find any light fixtures in the footwell

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It does have PSE - but it doesn't seem like this needs to be turned on for my car? I haven't ever turned it on while driving and my exhaust is certainly much louder then a 996 w/o PSE.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

of course now that I see this picture posted - it IS of an exhaust pipe - does activating this button actually turn it off rather then on?

POST 9Original post

That's for your PSE, it's a picture of an exhaust pipe.

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

ya - gonna have to go see what the heck it does while turned on - as you can certainly hear the PSE without hitting the switch - oh darn - time for a canyon run !

POST 11Original post

I have the factory PSE. pressing the button (light is on) baffles the system (turning it off) and making it quiet like a Toyota. The default system on a 996 w/PSE is on vs off on the 997.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks pongo - that makes sense. How did you add the bluetooth to your car?

POST 13Original post

Click on my sig and it will take you to the renntech.org page for my car with all the mods. It's a Motorola bluetooth unit connected to the phone prep plug behind the heated seats panel. Works great, but I'm sure there are better and more feature-rich kits available now that you could connect into the phone prep.

POST 14Original post

PSE is the best!! I'm going to tell you something you won't be able to UN-hear. Unless someone else already modded it, you'll notice the PSE cuts out from like 25-35mph. There is renntech article on how to fix it. It is worth your time!

POST 17 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Funny - my first car was a Scirocco 16V - Nuespeed racing suspension, sway bars, 2.2l liter engine mod, etc - I sold it when I got my '84 911. I loved that car.

Had a 82 Scirocco that I bought new in college and then modified it to a eurospec GTi version with a blue printed motor. It was a great car! Kept it 9 reliable years until my first kid was born and then sold it to a friend (who totaled it within a year) and bought a 91 Jetta GTX 16V as a "family car".
