Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

I have removed the helper spring awhile back but I have reinstalled it and the problem is still here.
Leading evidence: 'still here' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'still here' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Check brake lights and switch' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

Maybe its still something I changed with the spring assembly, but it all appears to be back to orginal specs.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am having problem with cruise control. When I turn on the car the light is on and I can turn in on off, after about 30 seconds the cruise control light goes off and it won't come back on, nothing happen when i press the switch, and the cruise control does not work.

Probably not the micro switch on the clutch. Even when the clutch is depressed, the dash light should stay on.
I would guess it's a fault of some sort in the cruise control system. Maybe the switch on the stalk is defective. When starting, does the light automatically come on even if the switch isn't depressed? Not come on as part of the diagnostic cycle, but come on and stay on.
I hate to say 'I told you so' but here is the perfect example of a modder who went beyond his means in his DIY work. By first removing the helper spring on the clutch system, which in turn effected another working part of the PORSCHE design ie:- the cruise control. Not only that 'and not related' another small DIY job that went amiss burning out wires in the rear of the car. It's no wonder people get scared buying a used 996 when people like this are messing around with things they should 'well leave alone'. When I make a move on my next Porsche car. I will be shopping for one that has not been lowered or had a whale tail added. Thats a dead give away that it has been molested. If it looks 'bad ***' then it probably is.
Anyway Mike I hope you manage to put things right very soon.
i have the same problem but the light won't go off,,
light goes on and off perfectly but cruise control is not working,,

The spring mod is a great mod. There is many people that swear by it. I had it out for 3 months and loved it. The clutch hardness seems to be dependant on clutch wear so maybe when I get a new clutch I will take the spring out again because its great driving without it. Right now I am ok with the spring in and an ocassional over rev or near stall.
As for cables yeah that was little messed up, I reversed polarity on this cool device that needs power from the light to operate. The cables are ok but the device caught fire and burned, it was sitting beside the cable so it chared it a little. All good the company will send me a replacement for extra 10$. I will reconnect the wires today see if that fixed my cruise.
It’s funny how some feel that they can do a better job in their backyard shops than Porsche manages after 40 yrs of complex R&D refining the 911. The car is not perfect but I have to say for me, if it is on the car it is there for a purpose, they don’t add parts and ‘cost’ for no reason. I like some modes such as sound or even some performance to some degree as the std car is designed to meet homologated standards.
But I question some of the other mods people do, drive it as it was designed and enjoy it, maybe you have to modify your driving style to suit the car.
