Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Issues I ran into were the P's "Hi Fi" amp goes unstable on low bass and there was some smearing on rapid transients. A high pass filter (30khz) solved this issue.

That's not encouraging...European cars have used CAN for many years, albeit mostly for powertrain and chassis management.

Unless you replace the entire sound system, line the car with sound deadening material, brace all speakers so they are coupled to steel, change to quieter tires, perhaps redesign the cabin for decent acoustics, don't use much compression and only listen when the car is at idle, you probably won't hear any difference.

My patience for the Ice-Link to be able to interface an IPOD in a MOST buss equipped car is running thin.

In the software business this is called "vaporware" when a manufacturer pretends to market a new product just to test the waters for demand.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

My patience for the Ice-Link to be able to interface an IPOD in a MOST buss equipped car is running thin. I really want this item.
Today, I wrote to them again, and here's the response (it's a cut & paste from the email sent to me):
I appreciate your patience in this, but these things do take time if they are to be done properly. We have even gone as far as acquiring a MY2005 Cayenne S to perform development work upon - we are as serious about this as much as you are.
Feel free to check in from time to time as development occurs. As soon as we have more information, it will be posted to our website.
Best Regards,
Tom Guagliardo | Dension USA
If they have been working on this for 2+ years (like they claim) why would they have to buy a Cayenne now? What a lot of bullc**p! In the software business this is called "vaporware" when a manufacturer pretends to market a new product just to test the waters for demand. Does anyone know if the 997/987 audio systems still use MOST based fiber optics? If so, we have a chance for third party software solutions, otherwise the potential pool of purchasers is too small to justify the development costs...
This is same exact thing we hear from suppliers when looking for non-FM mod hookups in the new Fords too (I know this is Pcar board, but everyone needs a truck too right?) - the new Fords use CAN BUS and all of the suppliers say next month - and have been saying it for like 2 years - I have stopped holding my breath that for sure.
On a related note, I have a friend who is the main installer for some high end audio shops in LA specializing in Porshe - and he says he has the components to put together a hard wired FM mod hookup that sounds "pretty good" in our cars. I think I may have to bite the bullet and go for it - tired of waiting on a direct connection.

Put in a wired modulator and enjoy the music.

Issues I ran into were the P's "Hi Fi" amp goes unstable on low bass and there was some smearing on rapid transients. A high pass filter (30khz) solved this issue. I also had a ton of EMI when the iPod was plugged into the P's power. No matter how much messing around we did we finally gave up and detached the power lead.
the new PCM from april 05 production onward, plays Mp3 encoded CDs.
dension is full of it, they have been leading MOST users on for the better part of 2 years.
It's not only Porsche, but high-end BMW and MB that use the MOST bus. But as most (no pun!) of these manufacturers are providing a interface to an iPod as optional extra is it really worthwhile someone investing time, effort and resources in developing a 3rd party one?
