Would Pfaff have to have the locks changed on it given the very professional ( see my post from last month) car thieves still have the set they stole with the car?

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Its sad to see my former C4S forsale at Pfaff. I was looking forward to a few more track thrashing events in it this season. I love my new 997s but miss the corner ripping abilities of the C4S and that fantastic ***.
Dayton did an incredible job repainting the entire car after the theft-recovery and damage done to it inside and out by the car thieves. ( keying the entire body, kicking doors, ripping out electronics etc..) I highly recommend them ( and Jamie Taylor at Pfaff )

I am assuming they would have to in order to ensure those guys wouldn't just come back and drive it off the lot or the driveway of future owner.
Check out the great paint job they did.
2002 C4S Repainted
Car thieves are pure scum. I remember when my brother had his brand new z28 stolen, scumbags followed us home and it was gone 5 min after we went in the house. The next day the cops had the carcass of the car in the impound lot, sad.
They did a really nice job on the car, too bad it's tainted now.
I was thinking the same thing! Even with the exchange rate that comes to over $75,000 US. I'm not sure what I would offer them, but I'm guessing it would be about a Honda Accord less than that.
When it says "2 Owner Car" are they counting the thieves or not? :roflamo:
I can't belive they are offering this for sale on a Porsche lot of all places after it was a theft recovery and full paint. Shouldn't this info be disclosed??? I've lost total respect for that dealership.....I am willing to bet it will be sold in a shady way b/c you can't just look a customer in the face and say "she's perfect" and its a steal at only 93K CDN. Yeah it's a steal, in more ways than one!
Yeah, (it's been well covered on these forums, but) if you're an assman (like me) a C4S is the way to go. lol. To bad Cosmo Kramer got the "ASSMAN" license plate before a C4S guy.
there has been a real arbitrage situation between Cda and the US for sometime. if you check the world price, the US simply gets an amazing deal and Porsche eat the exchange problem.
this is exagerated as Pfaff are a pricey dealer but they apparantly have great service. We have 2 closer dealerships here and i know of 2 friends who still only return to Pfaff's.
Note the warranty is not "certified", a subtle difference that could get lost in the rapture of the buying moment.
It should be in the listing that at the very least it was fully repainted. I would be pissed if I I got my hopes up about that car and drove it, like it, talked numbers and either (1) found out before we sat down to do paperwork or even worse (2) after I bought it. Yeah, that is grounds for a lawsuit but it should have never gotten to that point.
And, I don't care if it was serviced there b/c there is a small amount of time they CANNOT verify what the car has seen. There was a reason you got rid of it. By the way, I sure hope they gave you a killer trade in price on it AND a great price on your new 997. If not, then they are flat out crooks with a listing even close to the price they have it at!
Unless the car was discounted dramatically, whch it isn't, I wouldn't even look at the car. When cars are repainted they look fabulous initially, but rarely does the paint hold up over time like a factory paint job. So you can expect the paint to pop off any time a stone hits into the car. At least that's been my experience.
If I did my calculations right, I agree with raid. I'd say the car should be sold for the high $40s, at least in the States.
I'm not certain if the dealer is legally compelled to divulge the fact that a car was stollen and as a consequence underwent extensive repairs. If nothing else good business practice would be to inform customers about the car's history.
Case in point why I never buy used, you just never know. Imagine saving your pennies for years to finally afford a porsche, then you buy this one and find out the history 6 mos later when the **** starts to hit the fan.
Hey Dell.....is roflamo the Eastern European version of roflmao? Just kidding!!!!! Congrats on keeping Manny.....we're still gonna get you guys come October!!!!
I did....off the bench.....and I also watched the 2nd straight nail-biter from my guys, winning both games as come-from-behind at the end!!!! Very sloppy, yet very entertaining season so far.....who needs football?
Pfaff is a good , honest dealership and will tell the future owner the history, and the price is not that bad, would i pay that kind of money, NO but it will not sell for that. I am not sure about the U.S , but here we have whats called the disclosure law. THEY HAVE to tell the future owner the Full history of the car.
nope try $75 CAD to 79 top , you could pick up the same car for less then $89 CAD with less mileage and with out the repaint and be the second owner not third.
A repuatable dealer will not sell a car that has theft history. Once a car has been stolen and screwed with, they should be auctioned off and sold for cheap. I'd not even pay $65k USD for a 02 C4S, not to mention a stolen one. I like the fact that a dealer has taken great care to restore the car because no one else will do a better job unless you have a handy new owner. It's like a pet rescue...
No I don't , thats why i said I would nt pay that, and it wont sell for that, But hey this Canada where the cars fewer and far between. The car is pretty rare here, we might get 10% of the cars the U.S does. Some one will end up with that car, and not really care about its history. The person that will end up with that car will lease it and give back, and another thing is, If a person were buying the car as a lifetime keeper, it wouldn't be used.
It is possible, but the charges you pay at the borders are nuts, We have to pay whats called a 6.1% duty tax, then we have to pay a 15% SALES TAX. Cars in the US sell for much less, and sometimes depending on the deal MAY be worth it, but its just not the norm.I looked into it befor i ordered my 04 C2, and it just wasnt worth the savings. And to anwser you first question it's just as easy to lease a used car vs. a new car. It will be alot cheaper too, I hear Porsche's new lease rate is stupit high.
Sorry dude, my bad. I misread your post. I thought you said
you wouldn't buy it but it will sell for that.
What a difference one little word makes.
You know, if the damage was all cosmetic (Scott can you verify what the damage was?) and you could really get it for a good price, would make a great track car.
