Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello All, Just recently sold my BMW ZHP and plan on buying a 996. I've had a great experience with Chad Stett at Stett Performance for the bimmer. Can anyone recommend a good mechanic/shop for 996s in my area? Thanks,

Ruf is probably your best bet. Then Boardwalk. But stay away from Park Place service, I wasn't impressed with them at all. If you need an indy shop, I think Autoscope might be a good choice. -td

POST 3Original post

I started at Park Place and had them inspect and perform an oil/fluid change then called all the other Porsche specialists around. The only one to answer the phone was Hans at Ruf. I drove out there and sat down with him and he was super personable and made time for me. I checked a few prices and he was about 25% below Park Place. He is going to do my brake fluid for the DE in 1.5 weeks. I'm ready to give him a run. Just to put a plug in....I have had the oil and fluids professionally changed and after six months and six thousand miles I have not had a mechanical issue. I love the car.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks, I'll check on Hans. I appreciate it. Also congratulations on your good luck with your Porsche. I hope to find a 2002 in good shape.

POST 5Original post

+1 on Ruf. As you can tell from my Avatar, I am a big fan.

I see you're in Texas. Don't know any shops there but which ever shop you chose be damn sure you wear your gun ON you when you go there. I here it's mandatory there. And if they give you any ****, you just pull out the gun and make everything magically better. Phil (sorry, was just reading the "how to carry a hand gun in your Porsche" thread and lots of texans had lots of stupid crap to share.)

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

RollingArt, I am a native Texan...who actually doesn't own a gun. Though the first question I'd get when I lived in Chicago and someone found out I was Texan: "youse must have a truck with a gun rack right." Sounds like funny stories in the "gun" thread...I'll check it out (did Plaxico post anything about how to conceal a gun in sweats at a club?)
