Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

lurker here (cobra is sold so daily driver will become 993 or 996)....safe to say stock head unit/speakers/amp all are pretty weak and especially with a cab after market installation is recommended + plus you can upgrade to include MP3dock/i-POD dock/USBdock

It seems most people replace the unit for an aftermarket, but I couldn't bring myself to remove the NAV.
These are separate views of the same evidence. Frequency alone does not establish a fix, and these counts must not be added together.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have tried a CD cleaner and it didn't fix the problem.
I purchased my first Porsche three months ago from one of the larger P-dealers in Ontario. The car is a C2-cab with 24k(km) on it in mint condition. After getting the car home and using it for a week I found a couple of problems.
The one thats driving me crazy is the stereo. When playing a CD the speakers crack at high freq. and I figured that since its a cab the previous owner must of had the radio up to loud and blown the speakers. The dealer ordered new speakers and replaced them at no cost to me. Leaving the dealer I put a Cd in and the problem is still there
When I play the radio it doesn't make the noise. I have tried a CD cleaner and it didn't fix the problem. The car came with the NAV system and it not the BOSE upgrade.
I've put 10k on the car this summer and love listening to the engine, but every now and then a CD would be nice.
Any audio guys on the forum that can give me some advice ?
thx!
Welcome to the site!!
I have the exact same color scheme as you (never see this version on the road)
If you read enough on this forum, you will find that EVERYONE hates the factory radio/sound systems.
(Even when they work properly!!)
There have been many sweet upgrades by members that you can find on site.
Like you, I really enjoy the car sounds, engine/ tranny/ exhaust.....and when the mood hits me, i earplug an Ipod!!
Enjoy your car!!
Pete
Thx Pete,
I've done a lot of research on this site and anothers about audio upgrades. It seems most people replace the unit for an aftermarket, but I couldn't bring myself to remove the NAV. My goal is to have a Dension installed but I'm holding back because I don't know if its the CD player or the unit itself that is creating the crackling sounds. So for now I use my IPOD via RF...
I haven't heard of your particular problem before, but these radios are POS, plain and simple.
The sooner you replace it with an aftermarket unit, the sooner you end your pain.
BTW, nice car.
