Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

24 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 3Original post

That's a car that gets cheaper looking as they add crap to it.

POST 4Original post

You can't install a roof spoiler without adding a front splitter to counter balance the added down force..... oh, wait..... er..... sorry..... wrong thread! If you like the looks, do it. It will change the air flow a little as it comes over the back but not to the point that it will be noticable.

POST 5Original post

Turn it around so the opening is facing forward.. thus reducing drag and adding a little lift in the rear... since that wheels have to be ballance due to physics, that means the front must then be getting added down force.. its a win win !!

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

was a roof spoiler ever a factory option on any 996?......

POST 9Original post

If you get the two basic bars for a 996 Porsche Roof Transportation System, you could mount just the rear one. With the rubber piece that fills the slot, it would act like a rear roof spoiler. To ensure you have equal downforces and lift, you could mount the front one as well. If you have nothing to carry on it, then mount 4 large CiBie headlights on the front, and an adjustable kite string on the rear bar. The combination of spoilers, drag, and lift will change your handling and performance. I just can't say how. Notice the rear spoiler on my weiner.

POST 10Original post

That always looked nice as a factory part on the 993, does not do much for me on a 996.

POST 11Original post

roof spoiler... I thought they were sun shades...

POST 12Original post

no no no THIS is the sun SPOILER link They dont effect the areodynamics and blocks most of the sun while driving...install front AND rear is advised Add some Porsche sunglasses and stick your head out the window to see where you are going

POST 13Original post

Looks pretty goofy to me--breaks up the line of the rear.

Well... Im sure with that big head of yours.. its bound to create drag, lift and downforce all at the same time

POST 16Original post

Looks a little ricey to me... There's probably a guy with an Acura somewhere looking to get it back now... (I was going to say Honda, but didn't want to hurt Tim's feelings...) Rudy ----------------------------- '01 Arctic Silver/Black C2 Cabriolet '03 Silver F-150 Supercrew

Not possible! Besides, it couldn't make my Honda look any worse!

POST 19Original post

NOT!! Love the fact that they show it on a car that has a friggin air brake on the back...like that thing needs anymore downforce.

POST 20Original post

I think it looks good, was thinking about putting one on mine but would never buy from a Taiwan supplier.

POST 21Original post

I have this in carbon fiber, looks and fits good.

POST 22Original post

Quotes source post: 6159962

Could do something like this. The front sunshade-spoiler on a rear engine 1951 Tatra, which adds downforce, reduces lift, accelerates air over the car for turbo effect, and shades the sun! (No, that's not a Tatra, that's a '51 Chevy that looks like it could be a Tatra.)

POST 23Original post

"Notice the rear spoiler on my weiner." There's a sure-fire conversation starter in a bar.
