Suggestion
If you raise and lower the car w/ that nut below the spring (right?) doesnt it also change the spring pre-set tension and wouldn't it change the amount of useful area the spring is operating in?

Andy: I have about the same clearence as you, so I guess I am just more prone to reckless driving and I need to change the nose or give up driving.I am going to use some U H M W Plastic under the frount lip of the bumper to hope fully stop the bleeding, this is plastic that is used in conveyors and industry where there is heavy friction.

I have used these type of spring on the rear of many motorcycles, but just thought about it today....on a motorcycle it can be changed to keep the ride height the same when a heavier or lighter rider is on the bike...so in effect if it was set for a heavy rider and a light rider got on, this bike would be too tall...

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Yes I think the springs are afer market, but I am not sure, or even the dampers. I just want to raise it maybe an inch to help get into drive ways without damage. I know Porsch doesent approve in lowering maybe they would approve in raising. Sorry I dont have more specific information, but all the suspension work was done and I dont have the documation. I also thouight there might be a book out there on suspension changes! Thanks for your reply! Halvin:
Halvin, if you can take a pic of front and rear (on just one side) and post back we would be able to help you identify what items you have and then what your options are. The best (for you) would be to have adjustable coilovers that would allow for ride height adjustment.
+1 on this. I have PSS9, and the ride height is "easily" adjusted. If you only have lowering springs with the factor suspension, not as easy
I think Dell or Tim or someone has an easily accessible image of what you should be looking for. Here is one of Dell's older pics, but not exactly what I was thinking of as this is just the upper mount. Dell, is this the rear?

Someone save me here, I can't find a simple picture. Geesh. If there's not one here in a couple hours, I'm going to take my camera down to my car

That pic os showing the difference in the aftermarket monoball shock tower mount over the factory one (GT3). Same thing with the coilover setup. You can see the black lock ring that will allow you raise or lower the ride height.

just food for thought, I am sure they thought of that when they made those, but makes me think you have to be careful and know what you are doing or you might effect something you didn't intend on changing....
Ok here are the pictures, I hadnt realized how hard it would be to get enough light for good detail. After seeing the pics you provided I think I am stuck with this set up, but I am listening. thanks Halvin
Yup, looking at that setup it shows that you do NOT have an adjustable height damper or coilover setup. At this point it really depends on what you want to achieve from suspension and what your budget is.
If all is stock suspension then this car is special in some way, I will take it to a shop I know and they can look at all of it at one time and maybe the mystery will be solved. thanks for the pics I learned from these and the thoughts, just another lesson in P cars. Halvin
utt uttt.... Hey, perhaps what you have is a lowered sport suspension (like ROW M030) and what you NEED is US Standard...... Then you and I can swap and both be happy
I think you have a point the bumper does seem to be lowest part of the car, when the funds come in and I find one that I like it will be paint time. Well the car is lower than stock all the way around but I could live with all of that but the low bumper. thanks and I will check the numbers.Halvin
I think what adds to the problem is that the lowest part hte front bumper also extends out more than a stock bumper. This causes it to scrape on any incline you encounter.
From what I can tell, that is about 5 inches of clearance. My CAB has the RoWM030 on it and the clearance is 6". That is with the GT3 aero front and cup lip. I still have clearance issues but nothing compared to my GT3. You just adapt to the height and become more careful about curbs, parking ties, etc.
I think alot of it has to do with the design of that front bumper and how far forward it extends as well. Lots more overhang on the front with that design which will cause celarance issues of it's own.
I've got maybe 4.5" clearance with the Factory aero bmper and splitter and like Dell, rarely come across a situation where I even worry about it.

Again, I think it's all about how far out in front of the wheels that bumper sits. The further in front of the wheels that leading edge gets the more difficult it is to clear things.
Sure does look good though!
Andy
Thanks Andy: I like the bumper on your car also, actually the car I really wanted had your bumper, but it sold. One thing about this car is the engine, It does really sound good and strong so I think it will last a long time. Halvin
