Lee, please don't tell me you changed your Avatar because of that flaming moron who made those stupid comments!!!!!
Leading evidence: 'Replace avatar' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Fill chip until primer doesn't show' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I use McGuires because I spilled the little bottle of gob remover...McGuires 1 and 2 are what I am currently using...works as good as Gob Remover.

I use the paint pen to just color the part of the chip where the primer shows.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi guys at lunch today on the highway i got hit with 5 or 6 stones from a truck that was like 400 feet away,
I couldn't get out of the way...anyways I have the Touch up paint, but i hate the fact that there is always a blop of paint left behind. Does anyone know of a good way, or a trick or a secret to repairing these chips? Any suggestions would be great
Thanks
I use the paint pen to just color the part of the chip where the primer shows. If a blob occurs I wipe it off. JimPDX put a blob on and sands it off after it dries with a credit card covered with a cloth and some Meguiar's cleaner. Either way, metallic paint won't exactly match. I have AS and my method reduces the way some chips show. On the ones where it doesn't help, I just wipe it off right away with some denatured alcohol.
Look at it this way... I realized there are a lot of sociopaths out there in the world. Having my image available to all suddenly seemed less interesting. And, JimPDX took a great picture of my car.
Neither my self-image or sexual orientation suffered any damage.
Don't remember. Was very high in sediment (rare for a pinot). The guy at the local market was pushing it. Too bad too, lot of good pinot in OR. Wife and I are taking Paulina for a little romp and winetasting this weekend.
To get back to your question: there is a company that supposedly has the perfect fix. I have not tried it, but am very curious whether it works. Their link is:

I have zero affiliation with them, but remember a reference on one of our boards.
dealers sell a small round disc that can be used to flatten blob. I'd use a toothpick to slowly fill the chip until primer doesn't show. allow drying time before applying a second layer.
I have had good results with the Langka product. While it did not give "perfect" results due to the different size metallic "flakes" in the touch-up paint (I have an Ocean Blue Metallic cab) which did not match the factory finish perfectly, the Langka product worked very well in removing the paint blobs.
I recommend the Langka product. I look at it this way: paint chips happen especially if your car is a driver and not a garage queen. You are better off leaving the paint chips alone because using touch-up paint creates blobs which end up becoming more noticeable and unsightly. However, if you must use touch-up paint, use the Langka product since it gets rid of the blobs quite well. While a respray of the hood/fenders is the best fix since touch-up paint cannot exactly match the factory metallic paint, the combination of touch-up paint and Langka gives pretty good results.

I recommend the Langka product.
I use the Langka method of chip repair...
Glob the touch up paint on filling up the the pit...wait 4 or 5 hours to dry then with the edge of a credit card, cloth and some paint polish like mequires rub over the glob with moderate pressure and small strokes...you have effectively rubbed off the paint that is excess leaving the pit filled. Repeat as necessary and then follow up with a bit of wax...works pretty good...

The little kit for 10 bucks comes with a blue credit card blank but I use my Costco card...works better than my Safeway, Albertsons, Visa and AmEx...

Langka is a good product, it is about as perfect for touchup as you can get. You can also find out who comes to the dealerships and does their touch up and see what he can do. I had a black 993 and a guy at the Toyota dealership touching up their trades, did my stone chips, took him about an hour. He touched up the spots and then clear coted them. He told me to wait a weak and then a light polish and then wax. Pretty good job before the polish and damn near perfect after. Cost me $50.
I LOVED Lee's avtar, the new one is nice but it will take a while to associate that picture with him. That avtar was Lee.No pun intended. I think you should put the old one back up.
Its a Seinfeld quote..remember the episode where he was accused of being 'thin, neat and single...not that there's anything wrong with that..@ it was a great episode.
Way to go Lee. I'm glad to see the familiar face. I always know that avtar is going to have something worthwhile in the text; it's my association. Don't change a bunch of stuff around I don't do well with change; mods are evolution not change. I do well with mods.
Anyone had any experience with the mobile paint touch up artists that I see at the local dealerships from time to time? While I have never actually seen their repair procedure I understand that it is basically a sand and blend job????
