I got a flat this morning on one of my new Pirelli pzeros. Rear wheel, about a 1 inch gash between the tread. Had the tire patched by my shop. Will the patch weaken the tire in any way? Is it safe to drive at any speed? This tire had just over 1000 miles on it! Almost brand new!

Dont think I would drive to far or fast with a tire that has a "gash" in it. A Nail probably but a 1 " cut no. It had to have cut belts inside I would think.

I tried to repair a conti with a nail hole in it (against everyone here's advice). Had it done professionally, but the tire was not quite round after that and I could feel the shimmy. Hated having the experience of an $80k car ruined by a $170 tire, so I replaced it. YMMV

Yeah, gotta get the road hazzard warranty. If you buy them at Costco, yes costco they are way cheaper and hazzard warranty is included. My buddy just bought p zero 285's 225 each for his cab.

i got a flat last week. only found out after my 145mph run! i wound up replacing both rears w/ pzeros. yes i got the hazard ins. that sux...i hate replacing tires, but yeah do it. Did your buddy have Costco mount the tires, or did he just purchase them and take them elsewhere. I don't know about where you live, but I don't think I'd want the kids in the tire dept at my Costco mounting mine!!!!
