Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So, Porsche has decided that my '02 is entitled to a new motor since my casing was over .5 mm out of round when chasing down a potential RMS leak. Needless to say, I am ecstatic with a fresh powerplant in my 30K mile chassis. Break 'em in hard, and they'll run strong.

POST 3Original post

I just got my car back yesterday with a new engine. According to the dealer, the replacement engines are broken-in at the factory so a break-in period is not required.

POST 4Original post

From what I've read on the board, it is a reconditioned motor, not a new one FWIW--the RMS club guys know more than I do on that subject though...glad that you got the problem rectified regardless--a lot of people have been left out to dry with their RMS issues since Porsche still hasn't taken up an official recall for it

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Mine came from Germany and is the latest 996 motor per the tech. Maybe they ran out of reconditioned ones. Just got lucky I guess.
