Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Cause the led's have to be disconnected (sorta hard wired in), the epoxied clips have to ground off, fender liners + custom filler strips taken off, bumper removed, install new lip (for sure with some screwing around) put everything back together, re-do electrical (led's), etc.
Leading evidence: 'Disconnect (sorta hard wired in), the epoxied clips have' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Disconnect (sorta hard wired in), the epoxied clips have' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey guys I'm thinking of putting a 2011 GT2 RS front lip on my Frankenstein front-end but here's the rub...
The one that's on there now was epoxied in (from inside the bumper)
Thus the whole bumper has to come of and the present lip basically will be trashed.
So A. it will be 4x the labour to do the job (compared to not being epoxied in) and B. there is a small chance the new lip won't fit properly...
What would you do?
Thanks!
Ps. mine is the black Frankenstein 996 C4S, the new lip is like the one on the black/carbon 997 GT2 RS.
Sid.
FUNNY!
Coming from a hippie!
I don't know dude... this is one of those jobs I would do working together with my mechanic at the P. dealer ($ 129,- p/hr).
So this could add up quickly!
Cause the led's have to be disconnected (sorta hard wired in), the epoxied clips have to ground off, fender liners + custom filler strips taken off, bumper removed, install new lip (for sure with some screwing around) put everything back together, re-do electrical (led's), etc. etc...
Yep, you're right... I'll probably do it anyway
Whatever it's worth, I actually prefer the one you have on right now and thats not even considering the fact that epoxy is epoxy - that thing is horribly much so attatched to the bumper you have ;-).
I know... what where they thinking when they installed this thing
But yeah I hear ya, it's not like it doesn't look good right now or that it's broken or defective.
That said, I do really like the more aggressive look of the GT2 RS one.
But for the $ and hassle I'm just not sure if the difference will be big enough...
Guess the vote is 1 for 1 against... yeezzz thanks for helping out guys!
Now you want to mod your mod, and ask us if you should do it?
Uh, hell yeah! We love watching the evolution of the Sid-mobile. I predict the "My New Front Lip" thread within a month.
I say leave well enough alone. Save the money for something else even more radical........a cf hood? Just seems like the difference wouldn't be too noticeable for the $$$.
You need to attend a MAA(Mod Addicts Anonymous) meeting today.
"My name is Sid and I have a problem." LOL!
I wouldn't do it, but you probably will. Good luck. The car already looks great IMO.
I like yours better!
Want a change?
Remove the headlight masks, or change your wheels. Maybe powder coat them black or for less than the spoiler cost you can buy some new Victor wheels.
Looks are subjective so it's like most other decisions as it comes down to money...if you got it ($$$), and like the look then do it! This assumes that you plan on keeping the ride long term...
Whoww all the boys came out to play!
I'll answer some of the other posts later tonight.
Thanks for all the response guys!!!
Yeezzz this better than therapy, what do you mean anger management doesn't qualify as therapy!!!
oh... was that the voice in my head again...
Oh man that cracked me up!
Worst still is that it's true!!
Somebody stop me before I hurt myself
Well see if your prediction comes true too... I don't know.
Funny enough the P.'s I've owned are the only once I've felt the uncontrollable urge to modify too this extent... well I did do some work on my F360...oh and the Benz's and uhhh the Rover, the bikes, house.... what do you mean I've got a problem!... oh, the voice in my head again?
As for carnage
...if it happens, I'll bring the gory details to ya in HD
BTW, congrats on your new toy!!
Yep my thoughts exactly, what if it doesn't!?
Lot of time and $$$ wasted.
But then again I've got stock P. lip and grills on there now so why wouldn't it fit... somehow I think I'll be able to answer that "rhetorical" question
Hey... your name is Sid too?!
There's a meeting...WHERE!
I could probably pick up some good mod ideas there.
WHAT!!!
It's one thing to mod a mod but removing one... sacrilege!!!
Actually it's more the cost/extent of the labour since the lip is only $400,-...but that's probably because it get scrapped to bits fast since it sits quite a bit lower than the stock GT2 one.
Subjective... hmmm like the saying sports cars are to compensate for something... what... that's not 12 inches!!!
And ofcourse I'll keep it a long time... as long as there's something to modify...
BTW have been following the mods on your ride too... it looks awesome fellow addict
Sighhhh... yes if the 997 would have been around when I bought this I would have
... rub it in why don't ya, here have a little salt!
Could have bought a 997 Turbo for the $ I put into this car.
Truthfully though, I absolutely love this P. and even if I would have bought the 997 I would have been thinking "I should have bought the 991" by fall.
That's why I customize, so that it's the ultimate sexhmmm I mean Sid machine.
For me it's not just the destination (end result) but how you get there (customizing).
When I'm done customizing it's time to buy a new car and start all over again, pffew lucky i keep spending copious amounts of $$ on custom work!
Sid - just save your money and buy yourself a 997, it's clear that's what you want to have. Seriously, why keep putting money into your 996 to make it look like a 997? Just my 2 bits, cheers.
Thanks for all the replies guys!
Still haven't made up my mind... ahhh think I'll just buy a VW
Thanks!
Got it from Wicket Motor Works.
And because I know you're going to ask...
Cost of dumper, lights, grills, shipping etc was about 4K, all in with install paint etc was about 10K.
Just a matter of time... what's the date right now.
Thank you sir, I'm glad you like it
As to girls, I'm not so sure about that... true (most) girls don't really know the difference but they sure know it looks better than most other... OK I'm going to leave that one alone ...uhhhm that it looks different.
Lets just say this a car which really does attract the chicks, every single one who says something includes the word "SEXY" in a sentence... and they're not talking about me or their girlfriend
Actually one time it did include both!
Guys don't care... come on man!!!
You're killing me
Ahhh words of wisdom... what are you saying!?
Hey if enough people give their 2 cents I can buy something else for this P.
Seriously though even if I buy the 991 (actually waiting for the 991 hardtop cab. to come out) I would still customize the hell out of it...
Yeah I have not Tues. nights though.
But since I get to drive others peoples muchhhh faster rides around a track (if I manage to keep it there
) for a living I find myself gravitating more to country roads... must be getting old!
Hey what do you mean "end thread"!
You met me, does little Psycho look like a guy who lets someone tell him when his thread is closed...oewhhh I think I'm going to have to come to Icar after all
Take care Kid!
