Read evidence and context
Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The PO said that the belt was changed out 10k ago.
Leading evidence: 'Replace po said' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'belt' (1 discussions; 0 report identifying it and 1 suggest it). The most frequently discussed action is 'Replace 30k ago' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I then thought about the type of noise that I heard and realized it was probably the belt.

Hopefully the water pump didn't go as well- it was replaced 30k ago.

I hope that I can find my 24mm socket for replacing the belt!

Not much is simpler then changing a serpentine belt with our cars, lucky you were close to home when it came apart.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Always an adventure- my better half and i were coming back from a nice after- work dinner and drive with the top down, when one block from home, the polyrib belt started to go. At first, I thought it might be the IMS bearing giving way, so I shut it down immediately. I then thought about the type of noise that I heard and realized it was probably the belt. I started it up again and basically coasted home. We ended up pushing the car into the garage (in business clothes) because I didn't want to take any chances.
You know that your better half is a keeper when she volunteers to help push the car into the garage in heels!
Hopefully the water pump didn't go as well- it was replaced 30k ago. I'm off to get a belt now.
Anyone know how to tell if a car has had the update for
TSB (10/99 1379)
? I have had vibrations like in the TSB, and I bet that is why the belt went...
Did you read the TSB? If you look around the oil pump/coolant housing area to the right of the cam pulley it should be very simple to deduce.
Or depending on your car's MY and engine SN the above TSB might be moot (also spelled out in the TSB).

Go it changed out with little hassle. The belt was completely shredded and some of the strands got wrapped in the windings of the alternator. It also destroyed a vacuum line when it went. Runs like a top now!
