I assume though that this solenoid can easily be removed to clean all surfaces and such correct?

Sorry guys thought that it would be easy to recognize as it is pretty common to have to replace from what I understand.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I noticed that I had a very small oil leak on the car the other day. So small that sometimes I never even got a drip coming off the engine to the ground. So I threw in some dye and diagnosed it from best I can see that it is this seal that is bad. My question is for those of you who have replaced this seal before, what else should I order while I am repairing this? Thanks

POST 2Original post

Is this a 996 trivia game? Guess that seal location. LOL!

POST 4Original post

looks like the right side muffler bearing seal.

POST 5Original post

cam solenoid seal here's my DIY https://rennlist.com/forums/996-foru...noid-seal.html

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry guys thought that it would be easy to recognize as it is pretty common to have to replace from what I understand. It it located literally right next to the word Variocam on the lower right side. Yes it is the cam solenoid seal. Thanks

As you stated in that write up. You have your doubts about the oil running up hill. Well so do I, but I have had engine dye in this thing for 100 miles and even though it is wet above the solenoid there is no trace of dye. Very strange. I am going to replace this seal and then look for the dye again. We will see what happens. Thanks for the write up that will help!!

After thinking about your write again. You point out to be careful as to not disturb the solenoid. I assume though that this solenoid can easily be removed to clean all surfaces and such correct? It isn't something that I have to keep in a position or something correct?

POST 9Original post

No, the solenoid won't move, I was not sure but its bolted from the inside to the cam actuator assy. You won't have any issues
