If I press forward/backward, or tilt, or try to adjust the backrest I can hear a relay or something clicking under the seat (so there appears to be power), but no movement.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

We've got a '99 996...recently the driver's seat has stopped moving. If I press forward/backward, or tilt, or try to adjust the backrest I can hear a relay or something clicking under the seat (so there appears to be power), but no movement. I hear the same clicking if I press any of the memory buttons. I don't believe the seat is jammed--there's no evidence of any motors trying to turn or any perceived movement whatsoever... Any thoughts?

POST 2Original post

I took my seat apart this summer because it would blow a fuse every time I use it. It turned out to be a short where the wire wore away touching the seat metal parts.

POST 3Original post

There is a do it yourself thread some place in the 996 section here. t least I think I saw one.

POST 4Original post

I had this problem with my Audi. Check to see if all the wires are connected to the motors and switches.. I had a wire that disconnected from the motor.
