One trick to make it easier to get at them and get them out is to remove the rear wheels and use a 24" extension to reach them through the wheel wells, much easier than working from underneath and working around the driveshafts.

I searched and found instructions but none seem to mention the size of the bolt head. The tool I had for my 944t doesn't fit. Thanks Jeff new owner of '99 996 w/130K miles

I forget the exact size, it may be an 8mm, but it is a hex head/allen wrench driver. One trick to make it easier to get at them and get them out is to remove the rear wheels and use a 24" extension to reach them through the wheel wells, much easier than working from underneath and working around the driveshafts.
