Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

The broken plastic part that holds the female plug wouldn't allow the headlight assembly to reconnect properly.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I replaced a burnt headlight bulb today on the driver's side. The headlight unit would not go in as easy as it came out of the fender. Like a dummy I forced it and heard a snap.
As most of you know the headlight tray is plastic. The female power plug on the back side of the tray broke loose. The plug is fine but whatever holds it in place is broke. I think it is item 12 on the attached PDF. Or do I need to get an entire new tray (item 9)? This ever happen to any one here and what did you do? Or does anyone have a tray laying around?
I got the headlight back in but the plug is a limp d _ _ _.
I really don't know the answer...but I am guessing the dismantlers (salvage shops) probably have a ton of them. My guess is they sell the crap out of the lights, but rarely sell those things. I know people have had bad experiences with LADismantlers...however, I had a great experience and a great deal on a steering wheel from them.
I did the same thing well over a year ago on my driver's side headlight replacing a parking bulb. I broke the plastic part that holds the female portion, but instead of a new plastic headlight tray I was able to loosen the wires from a clip at the back where the wires feed into the plastic holder, which enabled me to gain wire length. I then plugged the connection together with my hands and slid the headlight back into place. Has worked without a hitch ever since. The broken plastic part that holds the female plug wouldn't allow the headlight assembly to reconnect properly.
Well Steve you made go in the garage and take a second look...closer inspection showed the 'plastic' keeper (item 12 in the pdf) became unlocked...it slid down unlocking the female plug! Flat screwdriver was needed to slide it back into the 'up' position which locked the plug in place.
Lights WORK! Thanks for making me go back in there...after watching my Packers feeble game today I was starting to think IMS! Now if fixing the dent would be that easy...
