Suggestion

Whatever makes you happy but those skirts are from the pre facelift era and I think it might be the case that they have been replaced incorrectly at one point.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

36 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

in with the sport designs!! (Yes, I do indeed need new lug nuts!) Next mod GT3 bumper.

POST 2Original post

nice.. how about painting those lug bolt heads?

POST 3Original post

...and your rotor top hats while you're at it.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tough crowd

POST 6Original post

Marc, the sport design wheels look great on your silver car. Nice job. I'm not too sure about the green lips on the wheels. I don't think green and silver match, unless you have the ever popular nephrite green interior. Maybe you could paint the lugs and rotor hats green to match.

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 5533881

Yeah, but you know we love you.

POST 9Original post

Love the sport designs, looks great, but yeah, the lugs are rough.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Listen you lug nut hatin bastards! I will get around to it! Hard to find quality car time with a kid, house.. work... anyways, can I use wurth silver wheel paint on them??

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5534100

They wheel shop was out of the purple paint

POST 13Original post

Quotes source post: 5534587

Who has quality time any more?!?! Wheel paint should work fine - just remember to mask off the threads.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5534592

Cant I just spray paint in the holes in the wheel? that way I wont get the threads and I dont have to take the wheels off?? Juuust kidding!!!

POST 15Original post

Best OEM Rim for the 996!!! Is it me though or does that lip not only not look that hot in green but also seems to be a terrible paint job? Could be the pictures but it looks way off to me.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5534741

Thats my grass reflecting in the polished lip

POST 17Original post

Great choice Marc, the Sport Designs are one of my favorites! Congrats on the swap.

POST 18Original post

Quotes source post: 5534750

Thank god! I didnt want to be a jerk but I was thinking that green lip was about the worst and uglyist thing you could have done. Must mean you lip has some serious shine! FYI: I may be a little bias becuase I have the same rims. I debated getting 19" aftermarket wheels but I decided against. Ill take hot OEM over aftermarket anyday (well except when considering performance improvement). Plus 18's will perform better than 19's.

POST 19Original post

I love the sport designs...best looking 996 OEM wheel imo. Dang strong too.

POST 20Original post

Are you trying to fool us, or isn't that just the green reflection off the grass you're parked next to?

POST 21Original post

I painted the lug nuts when I did the top hats with the ceramic caliper paint. Nice tough finish.

POST 22Original post

I had my sport designs custom chromed and painted at a local shop in Socal

POST 23 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5535288

I already said it was the grass, why would I paint my rims green!! Just a polished lip

POST 24 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

OK!! You guys made me feel bad, I painted the lugs today, I wil get te the top hats next week I hope. NOT GREEN!!

POST 25Original post

Nice! I like your painting method. ...now we just need to get you an aero bumper and side skirts.

Your nuts look good.... er, wait.... that didn't come out right!!!!! Let me try that again.... good job painting your nuts, I couldn't have painted them better myself.... awe, crap.... I did it again. Hell, you know what I meant!!! OK, now about those "top hats".....!!

POST 31Original post

Sorry to say but I think the mods combo on the car looks weird being a -02 with the facelift headlights, sporting Mk.1 aerokit side skirts and Sport Design rims (pre facelift 996 option). Ciao, J.

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All I can tell you is the side skirts came on the car from the Porsche factory, they are option X76 and listed on my option sticker. As far as the wheels the 2002 Order guide specifies option XRL 18" Sport Design Wheels. So take it up with Porsche AG What might look "funky" is if I do a GT3 bumper with those skirts.

POST 33 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 5536423

Well, when I said to my wife: "I will be outside painting my nuts if you need me" all she said was , "good luck with that" hummmm

POST 34Original post

Quotes source post: 5537010

Whatever makes you happy but those skirts are from the pre facelift era and I think it might be the case that they have been replaced incorrectly at one point. The rims also scream pre facelift 996. But as I said, as long as you are happy. Ciao, J.
