Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My new to me 00 C4 has some strange "hacks" I'm finding as I detail, look through it.... http://clientfiles.stsanford.com/911c4/index.html Your help and input is much appreciated... If this is a laser Jammer, how do I tell if it's working? If it's an integrated radar detector, does anyone know what's necessary to get it working? Thanks in advance!

POST 2Original post

Wow! All I can really say is the seller must have skipped school the day the discussed DISCLOSURE. You shouldn't have to be finding this stuff out after the fact. For all you know it is draining your battery slowly and they ain't cheap to replace if you want OEM.

POST 3Original post

My '00 has the same thing. All the dealership could tell me is that there is a built in radar detector. They didn't know what brand nor how to use it. As I went though the owner's manual portfolio, there was a pamphlet that read K40 radar UN3000 detector. I called K40 and they forwarded me to an installer in, oddly, Virginia. It appears the Laser Jammer portion is missing but the rest of the detector works fine.

POST 4Original post

The bottom picture is the laser jammer/diffuser by K40. It's supposed to be in the center of the bumper where your front plate is. I can't tell by the other pics what type of detector that is though. The radar detectors should be mounted behind the bumper, and you should see them when the lights are removed.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys for the responses, any idea how to tell if the laser jammer / diffuser is still working?

POST 6Original post

SUre, ask a cop if he will measure you. lol. i have no idea.... I guess you could probe the wires and see if they are hot. But then again, that will only tell ya if there is juice to it, not if it is functioning or not. Tim

WHEN YOU FIRST START THE CAR(IF THE UNIT IS ON)YOU SHOULD HEAR A SERIES OF BEEPS.THERE SHOULD BE A CONTROL BOX WITH 2 ***** ON IT(ONE LARGE AND ONE SMALL)THAT WOULD SWITCH THE UNIT OFF OR SET IT FOR CITY,OR HIGHWAY.THE SMALLER **** IS THE VOLUME.I HOPE THIS HELPS.WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

POST 8Original post

Drive behind somebody with a valentine one... it should set their Ka (I think) going like crazy. I've heard this from several people when I've driven behind them.

POST 9Original post

also behind trucks with LED brake lights. Also remote controls (IR)

POST 10Original post

Walk outside with your trusty TV remote control. Point it at the front bumper and start pressing buttons (one at a time). One (or several) of your remote buttons should set off the diffuser if it's working properly.
