I honestly don't feel like I've used the brakes any harder in the last month or so than I did in the previous year, and the discoloration seemed to start right after I changed wheel cleaner.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry to post such a mundane issue, but I've noticed since my last couple of washings that the colored Porsche crests in the center of my 18" Light alloy wheels have turned quited dark, making it hard to see the crest. Previously, I had used a wheel cleaner from Griots, and had no problems. Recently though, after I ran out, I bought some wheel cleaner from Target, and now the crests have discolored. Anyone else experience anything like this? I haven't tried scrubbing them real hard, but I'd love any suggestions to save them. Thanks! Andy '02 Seal grey Targa

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hmmm. Hadn't thought of that! I honestly don't feel like I've used the brakes any harder in the last month or so than I did in the previous year, and the discoloration seemed to start right after I changed wheel cleaner. Could be, though. The discoloration is worse on the fronts than the rears, which would go along with greater heat, although there's also more brake dust in the front--I wonder if the wheel cleaner + brake dust could have caused it?
