Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Leading evidence: 'flywheel' (1 discussions report identifying this cause; no attributable repair resolution). Across 1 matching discussions, the most frequently mentioned possible cause is 'flywheel' (1 discussions; 1 report identifying it and 0 suggest it). No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.
Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hey All,
I have a lightweight flywheel that I had bought thinking that it was the flywheel for a 996 3.4L. I recently brought the car in to have it installed and after the car was up on the hoist (engine dissassembled) the mechanic said that what I had brought him was not the correct flywheel for a 3.4L 996, so I had to buy another one to install to get my car in order.
I tried calling the original place that sold it and was disappointed to find out that they were unwilling to do anything because the flywheel had been purchased almost a year ago (despite the fact that they were the ones who shipped the incorrect flywheel in the first place and to this day, can't confirm which flywheel they have, in fact, shipped me).
Anyways, that leaves me with a flywheel that doesn't fit my car. My mechanic says that it is for a 1990-1998 911 (either the 964 or the 993); however, I called Fidanza and the tech rep there said that the flywheel is for a 3.6L 996 (which my mechanic says is incorrect). Can anyone tell from these pictures?
Also, if anyone is interested in purchasing this lovely and virgin lightweight flywheel, please PM me... I have to recoup some money for what I paid in order to pay down the credit card debt I incurred as a result of paying $1200 CDN for a new flywheel on the spot.
Engraved onto the flywheel is a code which says "P9-996", which I assumed was to denote the fact that it was for a 996. I'm not sure, all I know is that it definitely does NOT fit a 3.4L 996 (since the Fidanza techie indicated they didn't make a flywheel for the 3.4L).
Maybe the 3.6L 996??? Or a GT2/3 or Turbo? I have no idea the differences in the flywheels between models but rather throwing out a suggestion that there are many models in the 996 lineup and if there are any differences in flywheels, that could be your answer.
