Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Hi All,
I'm about to move from a Manual Boxster S to a Tiptronic MY03 996 (3.6lt).
I must move to a Tiptronic tdue to issues with my knee (the clutch irritates it), so don't bother with the usual OMG comments. I love manuals too!
Anyway, I was after 3 things:
1. Any general comments about the move?
2. Does the Tip 03 996 come with traction control as standard?
3. Should I be shooting for a C4s if I can strectch that far?
Thanks for all your responses!
Hi,
I have considered it, but:
a) I am not a fan of the SMG box. It's very jerky, particularly in automatic mode.
b) A new m3 will be released soon and I'm not interested in either waiting for that or taking the massive depreciation hit on the outgoing model.
c) I prefer porsches!
Sounds like you have only one choice... The P-Car! I test drove an 04 Boxster S before purchasing my 04 911. Both are great cars, but they are different. Do a search, I think this has been discussed a few times.
Go for it! While you are at it, go for the C4S!! Lots of neat things, like full leather, and great things, like upgraded brakes and sport suspension, are standard on the C4S that are optional on the C2. Makes the price diff worthwhile. Also, the C4S has held up against depreciation better.
OK, now for the humdinger. The C4S is also better!!

I sold my Boxster in January and purchased the 996 C2 Cab with Tip to replace it. You will love it. The Tip will probably perform better than you think. Traction control is not standard. If you can pony up for a C4S I say go for it. I love the looks and there is an advantage with brakes and suspension. There will be times that you feel back in the Boxster; however, you will have more power, a different handeling, and more interior room which made a difference for me as I am 6'2". What kind of use will this be for? That may be more of a determining factor of what is better for you. Good luck on your search!
