Anyways, i spliced them without using the pins, and hid the connection under the wheel-well where it seems pretty safe to me.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hello everyone, As many of you may have experienced, my rear brake harness connector has fallen apart and I need to replace the harness. I KNOW I should replace the entire harness into the ECU, but the pins are giving me pause. Has anyone simply cut the wire and spliced into the existing wire. Many thanks!

POST 2Original post

I would have no problem splicing it. Since I only use the speed sensor I would not use a connector. Solder and heat shrink.

POST 3Original post

The factory porsche repair kit for the abs is a splice in.....just use the self sealing marine heat shrink connectors.

POST 4Original post

Ya, i just did this as well and even though i wanted to do it as the kit suggests, i really could not find where the sensor wire comes into the rear of the car in a cabriolet (i think they run under the thick engine-padding and require removal of the rear carpeting to get at them. too much work!). the front were easy as they come through the strut mount, but the rear seam to come up a long the side of the engine and then disappear. Anyways, i spliced them without using the pins, and hid the connection under the wheel-well where it seems pretty safe to me. I tested and confirmed that all four sensors work since changing them. I think youre fine.

POST 5Original post

I did the splice fix on both rears and fronts will need them soon, I did buy the harness kits for the rear if I ever feel the need to do it "correctly" at some point in the future. 2500 miles later and no dash light.
