I also recommend official Porsche model - not sure why mine slips from time to time - maybe one of my visors is loose.

Does anyone uses the heat shield/deflector that some put inside their winshield when parked in the sun ?
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It works...but it sometimes slips off the rearview mirror and sets off alarm. So now i basically lay it on the dash. It cools my car by 20 degrees in high summer.
I bought the Porsche Tequipment one that fits PERFECTLY as it should. Since I have full leather and live in the desert of Las Vegas, that shade was a must to protect the dash.
Dell, you're a bastard. Why do you do this to me? Part number on the OEM sunshade please, or would you prefer to just call in my order to Sunset directly for me?
EDIT: I found the picture but can't find the part number....
Sorry Edward......here you go

FYI....I didn't order it from Sunset (which is rare) b/c my local dealer had them on sale. But Suncoast has them for $49. You might check with Sunset as well to see what their price is.
The covercraft is the same thing without the logo and $25 cheaper from Performance Products with PCA discount. Just ordered one for my new 996.
Used them for 10 years in Texas sun on my 928...no dash cracks.
Thanks Dell. Just put in my order. Sunset had it for about the same. Should have it in a week or so along with a bunch of other stuff that I had ordered (hardtop cover and stand, coolant tank cap).
Keep the good ideas coming, big man. I particularly love it when they don't break the bank.
Heatshield by Canvas Works
After using one for 15 years in my 928 to protect my leather dash in the Atlanta sun, I ordered one the day I bought my 996 with full leather.
It is a custom fit, aluminized mylar screen that rolls up into a tube shape, held by a velcro strap. Heavy fabric binding around the edges. I've never had it come out of position, tucked behind the mirror and secured by turning down the visors. It is sized so that there is a very small excess amount along the A pillars, and this creates a "wedged-in" effect.
Its very shiny, and reflects light & heat like gangbusters.
And they protect lowly vinyl dashes as well
I also recommend official Porsche model - not sure why mine slips from time to time - maybe one of my visors is loose.
Anyway, I only wish they made a sun-protector for the rear window as well.
Speaking of bangs for your bucks on mods I challenge anyone to find me a better ratio that the $22 that this costs :

Ah, having had 2 sets of caps stolen already, I'm using the lowly and lightweight GT3 valve stem caps now.....look just like the M3 caps. I know, not sexy but I'm tired of paying for other people's parts in Manhattan.
