Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

0 original-poster resolution reports. Counts can overlap; they are not unique people or a success rate.
0 discussions have direct query context; 0 report a fix in that context. Other evidence may inherit the discussion’s subject.
Leading evidence: 'Use car is an adventure' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Use car is an adventure' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

saw a 01 c2 cab. tip tonight.
car has 30K miles. OK options.condition is good.
but when i put it on the rack, and here it is. oil leaks.
it's from the side of tranny cover. the dealer said it's because the cover wasn't tight, so the oil got though???
the price came down to 43.2K after a few minutes talking.
i hasn't signed anything yet. want to do a PPI tomorrow.
now the question is, is it worth to do the PPI? or just move on?
please give me some good pic. of PPI if you have some. thanks.

LOL I just love it when salesmen offer their mechanical insights. Buying any used car is an adventure. Buying a used performance car is especially tricky, especially when it has evidence of oil leaks. Caveat emptor.
Is the side cover wasn't tight, the preload on the differential would be in question and the ring and pinion would likely be toast. There'd be more symptoms than oil leaking.

i am not sure what side cover is. (english is not my native lang.
)
you mean the cover in the middle of the real axle and facing driver side? i saw oil "wet" the up and back part of the cover.
i did feel the engine wasn't very strong.and it had a high patching sound in high RPM. again, it's my first time drving a 996, i don't know what to expect.
this guy in fact knows "RMS"
, and he said it happens with boxster all the time. the car doesn't even have power seat, and he kept saying it has ALL options of that model year.
thanks. i think that's it.
the tranny cover is "WET" and oilly and dirty, i will give up this one.
next time, i will remeber to have a camera with me. the camera on my cell phone just can't take clear pic.

Hardly enough oil to show on the stick in a thousand miles. It is more of a weep in most cases resulting in a few drops on the garage floor every night. You could almost call it an anoyance. There may be more severe cases but I think this is typical.
