Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have always thought that the TC equipped cars all came with limited slip rear ends, but now I have been told that you can have TC and not have limited slip. Is this true? I have a 7/98 build date car and have option codes 220, 222 & 224 on the under bonnet tag. Also, I have the TC switch on the console. The $100,000 question is, do I have limited slip? Also, how rare is this option? Any ideas on the percentage on MY 99 cars that were equipped this way. The link that has got me questioning all of this is here:

Just thought you may want to read all of that and see if you can make any sense of it.
Also, what does a P95 Sport Chassis indicate. Is this any different than a standard 996?
Thanks,
Pat
my understanding back at that time was that for the '99 model C2 996s you could order LSD (limited slip) as a totally separate option.
Far as I knew the LSD option was totally independent of traction control.
And then, for whatever reason, Porsche dropped the LSD option for regular 996's starting with the '00 model year. At the time I looked fairly deeply into this as I wanted to order LSD on my '00 C2 but could not.
Furthermore...if I've got my facts straight...the LSD unit available to '99 model year 996s was of the traditional sort of internally-clutched variety (i.e. totally mechanical) whereas the traction control used ABS sensors to determine rear wheel spin and then apply the rear brakes as needed.
I'm assuming traction control (if activated) would not step in unless BOTH rear wheels started madly spinning somewhat in sync with each other, and the LSD would be left to do its thing if only one rear wheel began to spin [relative to the other side] as in powering out of a corner. So in this setup it seems to me that a traditional LSD could be arranged to peacefully coexist alongside the electronic wizardry of modern day traction control. ...then again I may be rambling well outside of my justifiable knowledge boundaries
Unfortunately I don't know the official Porsche option code for LSD on a '99.
