Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Source reports, not a diagnosis or a success probability. Counts refer to discussions and can overlap.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I am about to pull the trigger on a set of Recaro Sport Toplines. I am in between all leather and leather / suede combo.
I'm looking for some help on the decision.
1 vote for leather suede. I have found 1 vendor who is offering very good pricing but retail on these is:
All leather - $1799
leather / suede - $1799
am vinyl / suede - $1599
plus brackets. These are a substantial investment but I really want the extendable thigh bolster. I am leaning towards the am vinyl / suede as the price is right and the feedback on the recaro vinyl is very good.
What brackets are you using? I had some but the seating position was just as high as stock and I was really looking for lower seating height. I ended up switching to OEM sports but the Recaros def had great support.
BTW, my vote would be leather suede combo as the suede will prevent you from sliding around.
There seems to be a dedicated bracket / slider combo from Recaro for the 996. I don't have any issues with seating height so I am hoping things will work out. For a little more than a mint set of OEM sport seats I am hoping for a major comfort upgrade. Also, my OEM seats are in great condition, so when I eventually move up to a 997.2, if I love the Recaros I can take them with me!
These are the ones I had. BTW, the same brackets are used between 996 and 997 so you wouldn't even need to get new brackets, if you didn't already know.
I have a set of full Alcantara (suede) and leather seats in my Audi S8, fully motorized, and they are the most comfortable seats I have ever sat it. Just do it.
The Recaros are more supportive and comfortable than the OEM Sport seats. Getting in and out is typical of these style seats with high bolsters and might bother some that use it as a daily driver though.
But as skiracer stated above, they are one of the most comfortable aftermarket sport seats out there currently.
OK, I just sent the money. That was a tough one to get the wife's buy in on, but I got it done! Now I can't wait the 4-6 weeks it takes for them to arrive.
Well if it's any consolation, you're wife might actually thank you if she currently drives or rides with you on long trips now with the stock seats. She'll probably notice the added comfort of the new seats.
First thing my wife did when I switched to OEM sports was to complain about her lower back on longer trips. I had to step up and retrofit an aftermarket lumbar support in her seat too.
