Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

What sucks is that I just changed my clutch out 6 months ealier.

Suggestion
The AOS is plastic and has anti freeze running through it to prevent it from freezing.
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I pulled into the gas station yesterday and noticed coolant leaking from under the car. Quite a bit, not but certainly not a minor leak. I figured it was the water pump. Temp was ok so I drove it to a nearby parking lot (drove fine). Had it towed to my Indy who just called to say the water pump was fine but the AOS is toast. I am a mechanical ingmoramous so the question is, does this make sense?
That is how my AOS failed. It was leaking water too. Was not a cheap fix either. About $1200 at the dealer IIRC. That included towing too. What sucks is that I just changed my clutch out 6 months ealier. Should have replaced the AOS while they were there.
Thanks for that. I trust my Indy but everything I read about AOS Failure talked about smoke from the exhaust, rough idle and possibly CEL. I experienced none of this and read nothing about coolant leaking. $1014 out the door. Oh well I guess it was bound to fail sometime!
The AOS is plastic and has anti freeze running through it to prevent it from freezing.
It can certainly crack and leak fluid, as can the hoses that are carrying the coolant.
the coolant that runs through the aos is to cool down crank case exhaust gas going to the intake..... where is the leak coming from? if its on the exhaust (driver side), its the tank... if its towards the rear of the engine, its the aos.
Kind of both acutally. More toward the rear of the car but definitely on the driver's side. Car has 54K on the clock so I guess its time. Better now than later, like 100 miles north of Phoenix on my way to Flagstaff!
