I personally would not mix brands front and rear - but yes - I'd replace both sides on the end that was damaged - and align.

Suggestion

Basically like running a 1 winter tire and 1 summer tire on the same axle, but not quite as severe, still will be a slight performance discrepency between the two sides

Any issues using these for the Fronts while keeping the N3's for the rear ?

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hit a pothole and killed a tire. Luckily the rim is still good. The new pirellis that match are N4. Any issues using these for the Fronts while keeping the N3's for the rear ?

POST 2Original post

The official Porsche stance is that you shouldn't do this. However, I really doubt that it would make any difference at all, especially on street driving.

POST 4Original post

ouch... I would check the alignment, these cars are very sensitive to alignments.

POST 5Original post

Is your car 2wd or awd? if it is awd you should be replacing at least 2 tires at the same time. no sense on replacing one tire and prematurely wearing out a diff. As for mismatching a set I would say it is no big deal as long as the two fronts are the same and rears are the same, especially if you are tracking at all. Basically like running a 1 winter tire and 1 summer tire on the same axle, but not quite as severe, still will be a slight performance discrepency between the two sides

POST 6Original post

A lot of us run tires that are not N rated. I personally would not mix brands front and rear - but yes - I'd replace both sides on the end that was damaged - and align. I found a used pirelli on ebay that matched a damaged one - and ran that for a year with no problems - so that might be another option assuming you have lots of tread left - if not replace the pair - with the closest match you can find from the same brand - and you should be OK - unless you are planning to run at 175 MPH up the autobahn for extended periods of time ....
