Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i posted this on the tt forum, but those guys are slow to respond or do not know..i want to remove the back-rest portion of the rear seats. i have the bose subwoofer enclosure just behind the back-rest. the seat cushion is just held by velcro strips, but the back-rest is supported on the bottom by hinges. before i mess up anything, can some one tell me how to remove them. do i need to remove some of the carpeting?? thanks to all in advance..

POST 2Original post

remove the plastic clips on the sides of the seat (that attach to the body) as well as the one between the seats. it may take some elbow grease. then you'll see the 3, one under each plastic cover, screws that will have to be removed. the both rear seats come off at that point. should take you 5 minutes.

POST 3Original post

The bolts look like torx but they're not. You may be able to get a torx to fit but they're actually a tool called a triple square....8mm I think.

when you refer to the clips attached to the body...i can identify the one in between the seats. but am having difficulty with the other two locations. do you have a pic or sketch that i can use as reference?? thanks forthe help.

POST 5Original post

they are covers that hides the screw... (1) in the middle as you mentioned (2) at each sides of the back rest unclip the covers, it will expose the tripple square screws.... you can use vise grips with a towel around the screw (ghetto mechanic, ) if you dont have the tools.

Actually, mine was a torx, T25 to be exact. I bought a set of triple square and they did not fit.

POST 7Original post

Ok, I removed my rear seats today. What if anything did you guys use to cover the area where the seatbelt receptical was located and the circular hole that was left when I removed the "stud" that was used to keep the backrest in the upright posistion? TIA.....

POST 8Original post

Quotes source post: 5840435

Get some high density foam and some black carpet/fabric to cover the foam with and make your own inserts for the receptical? You could use a small amount of velcro to secure them in there, or some glue for a more permanent install.
