Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

20 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

With the porsche gt3 camber plate (aka monoball) priced the same as the tarett or rennline camber plates, what is the better hardware ? I am installing my pss9 soon and I think I'll buy a set to get the extra 1degree of camber in the front., they are still cheaper ($500) than the lower control arms ($1000) and will be easier to install as well. any experience on this ?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I think I need to sell the car and get a gt3... But now I have all those parts that I have not installed... I think I'll mod for a little while

POST 4Original post

Ha, your car will be amazing once you are all done Oh, yeah I GT3 will not be a bad upgrade for sure

POST 5Original post

I just went with the GT3 monoballs knowing that my car will mainly be a street car first and foremost and the fact that I don't need crazy camber most of the time. If you drill out the alternate set of holes, you can further increase camber. I also like that fact that the OEM units have proven to be durable. Can't say that for some aftermarket ones I've read about in the past. But for someone doing a good amount of DE and track days, I would probably get the adjustable ones.

POST 6Original post

If you get OEM mounts can't you rotate them to give you more camber to start? Lower control arms give you a wider track, so that may be beneficial. Not to mention adjustability with shims. Tarett sells LCAs for ~$700. If it was me, I'd go with the LCA first, and upper mounts second. -td

This is what I meant, sorry if it wasn't clear.

POST 8 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am afraid the LCA would be more of a pain to install than the upper mount. but you are right, they are very close in price, the oem are $799 at suncoast .. tough choice, I am waiting for feedback before pressing the trigger on any of them.

POST 9 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

BTW for LCA, how many chim are required to achieve -2.5 camber ?

POST 10Original post

Are you looking for that setting for the front or rear?

POST 11Original post

Quotes source post: 8940618

Wouldn't that depend on where you have your ride height set at first?

POST 12Original post

Also, front or rear... Depending on the ride height you can get -2.5 in the rear without shims... while in the front you will need them.

POST 13Original post

Definitely Tarret Engineering is the way to go. I've been going back and forth with Ira and he's great. The hardware is completely up to snuff. Get the LCAs and don't look back.

POST 14 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

good thinking... I forgot about the ride height thing. I think I will go ahead and install the LCA in the front, that will give me more control if I need more camber in the future I think. Also that way I don't have to go with monoballs, as it seems for monoball, your suspension is only as good as your weakest link. So it makes better sense to go monoball all the way (a bunch of other control arms and toe links) at once to really see the value added.

POST 16 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I read in the forum that I need to mount the LCA 'rs style' (left arm on the right side and right arm on the left side) if I want to obtain camber in the -2.5 can anyone confirm this point ? I mean why simply not adding shims ? I think there is a caster problem with too many shims or something. I will certainly do the mod next week so I wanted to clear this point as I only saw this discussed on 2 threads.

POST 17Original post

Quotes source post: 8944139

No need to do that. You can get plenty of camber using the LCA's and shims installed in the standard configuration. If you change your mind and go with camber plates too, go with Tarrett. They are well constructed, and Ira is great to do business with. Also, they are part of the Spec996 rules, so when you rip out the interior, cage up, and go racing, it will be one less thing you will have to change. You KNOW you're going to eventually!

POST 18Original post

If you do not plan to go racing in the spec class you can get them from me We carry TRG components and our own.
