Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Dell, I use the suction mount to the back window, works superb.
Leading evidence: 'Use suction mount' (no explicit attributable resolution; this is a reported action or suggestion). Across 1 matching discussions, The most frequently discussed action is 'Run group' (1 discussions). For that action, 0 discussions report a resolution and 0 report an unsuccessful attempt. No action has an explicit, attributable resolution report under the current rules. These are forum reports and suggestions, not a confirmed diagnosis.

I can go down one run group, but I don't think they'll let me go down two

Suggestion
In order to pass you must get a signal, the same thing goes on in Germany at least, I know at the 'Ring they use pass signals for all run groups on DE days.

Suggestion
They should move you up to yellow, but I know in the nymetro region you have to have a set min number of days at each level.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

For my fellow 996 drivers. I have posted some track video from Summit Point, West Virginia. I was very pleased with the way my car was handling and driving, and I even have PSS9s and GT3 Adjustable Swaybars
. You can find them in the Racing & Drivers Education Forum. Enjoy.
Thanks. I hope to encourage more 996 owners to get to the track. Our cars are tremendous, and I do not think that you can fully appreciate what it means to drive a Porsche until you get your car on the track.
Now if I can just learn to drive to my car's full potential . . .

I used Windows MovieMaker to make the movies. It is sad how much the video and sound degrade from the original tape (or even the DVD I made from the tape).
Todd, those were fantastic! I just watched them and I must admit my adrenaline was really pumping. Very impressive to watch your track control get better and better with each lap. The wife and I are participating in our first DE this coming weekend! Can't wait. Now if I can just figure out how to get the cvideo camera in the car??????
Dell,
If you are anything like me, you will be hooked. As you can tell from the tapes, there is a lot to learn. That is why I recommended that you not install the short shift kit until after your first DE. The less distractions you have, the better. I highly recommend a in car video system. I bought mine from Hoyt Technologies
www.hoyttech.com
. Not counting the video camera, which I already owned, everything else cost me less than $400, which I thought was fairly reasonable. See my post in the Racing and DE forum for more info on why I think video is such a good idea.
Have fun at your first DE!

I'm working on the video setup. Have a director for E! here in the hood that we are good friends with that has some of the best video cameras that we can use! I just need to have a mount installed in the car.
A german co, Hama autostativ. They go for less than 100$, a cool guy on 6speed gave me his spare, thanks Ken.
FWIW, if you're doing your first DE you may not want any distractions, ie camera (in my case wife), just go out, concentrate and try to have fun. A good place to start is PDE if you can swing it, really gets you into it in a good way.

As an amateur racing driver here in Europe, I must tell you I was impressed with your driving specially the fact that you didn't do the usual mistakes that everyone does (hands on the wheel positioning, turning-in too early, etc) but...still.... the waving is not elegant, at all.
That's the one. It comes with the "auto" kit that they sell. It works superbly well. Before each run, I just reach up and give it a few pumps to ensure that it is very secure. I don't want a camera flying around the car while I am on the track.
Since Summit Point, I bought a longer "arm" in an effort to get the view a little further down below my rear view mirror. Also, I have since purchased a DL-1 data tracker, which will overlay data on the video so that everyone can see the speed, rpm, lateral Gs, braking, etc. . . I am going to VIR next weekend and I will try to post some more video from there.
I may not do the waving very elegantly (it is true), but here in the US you must get permission to pass. It seems to me to be a good sign of sportsmanship to acknowledge that someone else has ceded to you and allowed you to pass. Also, I had met many of those I was passing, so they are friends as well.
However, the videos make clear to me that: 1) I need to wait until I am tucked back in front before I wave (I am waving too soon); and 2) a simple raise of the arm should be sufficient. You would swear I was on the inaugural route having just been elected President with some of those waves Jeeezz.
Thanks for the support though. I have a lot to learn . . .
I never realized that you had to have permission (on track days) to pass! But then they (the drivers being passed) would be the ones that should do you the pass sign not you or am I wrong? If you want to say thanks just raise your hand 'cause it looks like you mean "Bye, bye - I just passed you and the next time you see me I'll be overlapping you!" LLLLLOOOOLLLL
The lower run groups (I am in green, the most novice) must receive permission to pass. Yes, the person being passed gives the signal (i.e., they point with their left arm to the left if they want you to pass to the left or they point with their left arm to the right over the top of the car if they want you to pass right). Yeah, I know I need to lose the beauty queen wave (maybe subconsciously I was saying see you again soon)
I appreciated the way you positioned your hands on the wheel on turn-in and your smoothness, I would only alert you to the fact that if you do your 4th to 2nd gear changes in the wet you risk yourself facing the wrong way as the gearbox acts as handbrake. On rear wheel driven cars I use heel n' toe on some turns and on every turn if wet... on dry I don't do heel n' toe but I don't do two gear changes in one time exception for the long straights (5th or 6th) ending in hairpins (180 - 2nd gear turns). On FWD you can do pretty much whatever you want.
Keep the good work 'cause you got the potential.
Ohhh! Just a little tip... do ya know one of the differences between racing drivers and enthusiasts? Looking ahead 4 or 5 cars lenght instead of 2 or 3cars lenght ahead. Antecipation is the key or at least one of them
You were doing pretty good there, TD! Driving critiques have already been made at the racing forum, so I won't add any. You should move up to the next group next time out. Need I remind you of your, ehem, invitation to me?
I can go down one run group, but I don't think they'll let me go down two
.
TD, keep up the good work. Check out the PDE, treat yourself. They should move you up to yellow, but I know in the nymetro region you have to have a set min number of days at each level.
Kiko, this is drivers education, not racing. In order to pass you must get a signal, the same thing goes on in Germany at least, I know at the 'Ring they use pass signals for all run groups on DE days. I assure you, in my racing days(twenty yrs ago) I if I gave somebody a signal, it wouldn't be polite and somebody would end up in the grandstands!
Chris
Don't let the "armchair" video critics get you down. I must say that you are doing VERY well for your first event!!! Remember many on this board have never tracked their car!
The good news is that the rush you described at your first event will feel just as good on future drives. The downside is this can bring on a whole new level of upgrades (wheels, tires, suspension, pads, harness, etc.)
Great Video's!!!
