Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, Trashed my right rear rim and tire turning off the road fast because an A-hole was tailing me and would have rear ended me had I not whipped into a parking lot entrance fast. Hoping someone might know of a new or absolutely perfect rim. I spoke to Wheel Enhancements 2 weeks ago and they were really nice and can sell me a brand new factory rim for $650 minus $250 allowance for mine. Kinda hoping someone has one for a bit less. Thanks everyone

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I don't know mundman, that's why I'm asking. From what I understand sometimes there are "takeoffs" or extras laying around at dealers or maybe someone has a set they have tried selling and had no luck so my hopes were that they would part with 1 rim for a couple hundred. Can't hurt to ask Thanks anyway

POST 4Original post

For a 5 spoke? Come on SYMA, $200 is just being cheap. Jump on that one rim for $400 and call it a day which by the way is one heck of a deal for a $1200 rim.

POST 5Original post

SYMA, my apologies for calling you cheap, it was aimed at the price point not at you. I just re-read my post and realized how wrong that came out. Moving on,,,,,,how bad is the rim? Can you post a pic? If you want to spend in the $200 range have you just considered getting it repaired? There are a bunch of shops around the country that will repair you rim for that price and you won't be able to tell it's not new! That may be the best option.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

No I understand LVDell, no offense taken at all. I am being cheap because I'm presently not working. Are they $1200 each?? Wow! had no idea. According to Wheel Enhancements to properly fix the rim it needs to be chemically stripped. Body shops just de-gloss them and spray them again, I trashed my Boxster S rear wheel on my own stupidity a few years ago and had it repainted 3x and it still looked like crap and different from the front wheel even considering it was some 6 feet away. Well I guess I'll fork over the money in a couple weeks to Wheel Enhancements. Thanks

POST 7Original post

$1200 is the retail price you would pay at the dealer. But, places like WE have great deals like the one they offered you. I know $400 sounds like a lot but if it means getting it done right, then I guess that is the trade-off. My question is what would it cost to just have them repair your wheel? Obviously you would be without a wheel for several weeks but that is an option.
