Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

21 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

1 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Outcome without a verified action link

I'm still not convinced with the 997 styling/quality/performance over my 40th anniversary edition (including the hyped 997S).

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So how long do you guys plan to keep your car? Just for a few years or for a longer time or are you just going to drive till the wheels fall off?

POST 2Original post

if i buy a car, it means i plan to keep it forever.

POST 3Original post

Until I can afford a turbo I'm a young 'en still, so I have some time...

POST 4Original post

The 996 is staying with us for a while. We bought it new in May 2000. I think we'll keep it for at least another 2-3 years. I like the new 997's but the 996 still drives great.

POST 6Original post

I'll keep the Boxster forever and the Carrera for at least 5 years...

POST 7Original post

I usually only keep a car for 2-3 years but this one could be different though! I really like the 997 but I'm still gettting to know my 996 so I'm not in any real hurry.

POST 8Original post

I love , my 04 c2, but not enough to keep for ever, i say when the new TT is out..thats how long ill keep it

POST 9Original post

thats actually my thought too - who knows maybe a GT2 would be on the cards

POST 10Original post

I'm going to keep mine until the wheels fall off, then I'll keep it 3 more years. My guess is that in 5 or so years I'll buy whatever the latest gen 911 will be and keep my c4s cab.

POST 11Original post

Ditto that! Until i can afford a turbo or a GT model, or unless i get an older one for track fun...

POST 12Original post

i will keep it forever. i'll add a second porsche when i can (may decades from now) but until then i'm more than happy with my 996 (except for maybe when i see GT's go by).

POST 13Original post

till, the wheels fall off i probably will end up getting a replacement Porsche but i will keep the 996 as the track/ax car.

POST 14Original post

Until at least 100,000 miles (at 25k now) with the warranty, and then who knows

POST 15Original post

Beyond the warranty period, and as long as I can afford the maintenance/repairs. I'm still not convinced with the 997 styling/quality/performance over my 40th anniversary edition (including the hyped 997S). So no plans to replace it with a 997. I guess I'll wait for the 50th anniversary and see what happens. On the other hand I would like to add another P-car in the garage, either a 356C or early 70's 911, in the form of a restoration project.... that's the new dream for now...

POST 16Original post

Well, I've kept my first Porsche for 34 years and counting... so I may keep the GT3 till I can't see anymore...and then have my kids drive me around in it.

POST 17Original post

I used to think that cars were long term relationships. . .

POST 18Original post

I plan to keep my 2003 C2 until 2008-2009, and then add GT2 or GT3...or 997 Turbo. I left Porsche a few times in past...won't make that mistake again! Drive em hard, often, and forever!!

POST 19Original post

I hope to drive it into the ground which will hopefully be a long time in the future.

POST 20Original post

I definately won't be driving it until the wheels fall off... reason? with what i've been through, the wheels probably WILL fall off... unfortunately while i'm driving with my luck

POST 21Original post

I have purchased 3 new BMWs and 3 (2 new) P Cars in the past 5 years. Funny thing is, I plan to flip my BMW again this year, but I have YET to SELL a P Car. I left my wedding in my Boxster, so that's a lifer. The Cayenne is practical, and the 911 is fun. I would really like a Cayman, but I am out of room! :-) I will probably sell the 911 eventually, but even that will be tough to do. Huh. I might just keep em all forever!
