Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

  • Rennlist: 1 discussions

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone, we have 2 Euro GT3 bumpers available (they also fit the 996 C2/C4's). These are the rear bumpers as seen on European models, they omit the bumperettes as seen on US models on either side of the license plates. It's the same bumper but without the cut-outs for the bumperettes. If you have a damaged bumper cover or want the cosmetic upgrade, this is the direct Porsche Genuine bolt on. Requires paint and install. They're $800 per bumper. Brand new of course. Best deal going, compare to retail at $1400 both are part # 996.505.411.12.G2X (G2X = Porsche's code for primer finish) Thanks, Austin

POST 2Original post

Austin, do you have any pics of these finished on cars? Thanks

POST 3Original post

Yep, and does this fit the older 1999 C2 models? What is the visual difference on this bumper? David

POST 4Original post

Austin why didn't you offer this to your roommate first?

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The bumper fits all 996 regular body cars, not for use with TT or C4S, sorry guys. The 99-01 cars require a change in the heatshields (not confirmed through our shop experience) according to PCNA. 02-05 it's the exact same. Here's what it looks like installed:

POST 6Original post

OK, I initially thought about doing this but decided not to do so. But now that you have specifinally "called me out," I had to do it!

Thank you. I appreciate the compliment!

POST 14Original post

I don't know why american P-cars use bumperettes. Is it due to a law?

POST 15Original post

Quotes source post: 4490437

Yes. THe US Dept of Transportation mandates that cars need to be able to handle a 5 MPH crash with a limited amount of damage to the front/rear bumper, or some such happy horse-****!

POST 16Original post

That all US bumper covers are essentially the same as the Euro bumper covers? The assembly process calls for the installer to cut the holes for the bumper extensions, and the extension covers (the bumperettes) fit through the hole and clip to a plastic frame from behind. One can purchase a 996 bumper cover, and simply remove the bumper extensions from the bumper ram (the aluminum bar behind the cover) and you have a euro bumper. The 996 bumper covers are under $500.
