Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I am hardwiring my GPS Camera detector and I'm trying to figure out where I can 12 volts from....is there a terminal somewhere I can plug into aside from the cigerette lighter that doesn't require removing the dash board.

POST 2Original post

You don't want to do any hard wiring? Then I'm afraid you are SOL, otherwise there are many places to get 12V without removing the dashboard.

POST 3Original post

If you are not using the aux phone connector there is both switched and unswitched 12 volts there. It is a 4 pin connector. Brown = Ground Red / Green = Switched 12 volts Green / Black = Unswitched 12 volts Yellow / Black = Telephone Mute (Jeff's pic)

POST 5Original post

Behind the "bat wing." You remove one of the carpeted trim panels. Either side. But we usually remove the passenger side.

POST 6Original post

i don't know all the terms you are using, what the heck is a bat wing. can you please just tell me the location. are you talkin about the front passenger panel (footrest)) ? thanks.

POST 7Original post

The bat wing is the plastic trim piece at the bottom of the center console. It holds the heated seat switches if you have that option.

POST 9Original post

A word of advice: Whatever you do, DO NOT forget to splice an inline fuse into the power line of any device you wire into your car electrics. Failure to do this and you could end up with a fire! Be warned!

POST 10Original post

The cell phone connector is fused with 7.5 amps. If your device requires a smaller fuse then you should use an inline fuse. But I now see you are in the UK. I am also on the UK Boxster board and when I tell them about the cell phone connector some cars have it and some do not. Apparently in the UK you need the cell phone prep option, so if you cannot find it then you do not have it. All US cars have it. Jeff
