Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
16 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I got a similar problem fixed when my '99 was still under warranty too.
ignacio,
mine has done that also...but weird thing is it does not do it all the time. i haven't had it looked at yet. i can put my hand up against the passenger side roof lining directly over the seat and limit or stop the vibration.
whenever i drive around at low speeds <40mph with the sunroof open, i get this weird fluttering noise from the air moving around in the back of the car. apparently they assumed that the car would only be driven at freeway speeds or something
My sunroof creaked badly soon after I got the car.
It was worse when the roof was closed vs. being open.
The sound happened when moving slow (5-10mph) over an uneven surface like a dirt parking lot or going up a driveway apron. It sounded like the body was creaking or the windshield was shifting in it's mounts.
The dealer traced it to the sunroof. They regreased it and it went away. I think there might be a TSB on this?
i took the new turbo to the dealer this afternoon. they are puzzled. they plan to take down the headliner next tues and look to see what the problem is. my c4s never did this.
has anyone else ever gotten this successfully fixed?
I got a similar problem fixed when my '99 was still under warranty too. They tried as hard as they could and actually replaced the whole sunroof motor. It still seems to "flutter" some like a sail in the wind when its open, but the creaking is gone. I think I remember reading about foam inserts you can put in the headliner of the sunroof panel on this board before -- I'd be careful with that though as you might effect the space required to "submerge" the sunroof into the back of the roof when its open.
did you ever get rid of the fluttering problem?
thats the main reason i dont open the sunroof, and now that its getting warmer i'd really love to use the sunroof w/o having it make noise.
i get a similar effect when the sunroof 's open all-the-way and the a/c is on (windows closed). i'll get this strange 'acoustic' anomally which sounds like flutter but really puts pressure on my ears--makes it hard to hear as well. but when your turn off the a/c it disapears altogether.
going over curbs (not bumps/potholes/etc) at an angle seems to cause creeking in my 99 c2. will usually only happen (or noticeable) at very slow speeds (like everyday pulling into work, it's an uneven curb). not only does the sunroof creek, so does the roof.
I also have a rattle that seems to be coming from the sunroof, near the passenger side. Rattles with sunroof open or shut on rough roads. So far I have not isolated the parts involved. Sounds like a metal bracket hitting a sheetmetal panel.
