Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

They said there was no additional labor to put in the clutch kit at the same time (nor any additional labor cost to replace the RMS).

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I seem to have a ISS leak and asked the Dealer about it. They said that they'd check to see if the RMS is the "new" kind and replace it if it wasn't. They said there was no additional labor to put in the clutch kit at the same time (nor any additional labor cost to replace the RMS). So, I figure I'll just replace the clutch kit, ISS, and RMS regardless (since they're already in there...) My question is: should I do any other mods while they have all this "apart". How about a short throw shifter? Or ??? Also, they said a new flywheel would be pricy and they usually include a resurfacing of the OEM (dual mass I assume) flywheel with any new clutch pack install. They quoted me about 850 labor, 150 parts for the seal(s) and an additional 560 or so for the full clutch pack. Thanks for the input. I'm not rich, but I may as well do any fixes and mods that might apply at the same time. The leak is small and I can wait a while before I fix it. I currently have 52,000 miles on my 01 C4 Cab Daily Driver. I've heard that the single mass flywheel revs faster, but is annoying - so I plan on keeping with the OEM flywheel. Plus they quoted me around 1500 for a new OEM flywheel, I'm assuming single mass is cheaper? And, no, doing anything besides filling tires or gas myself is a BAD idea (I'm good at breaking things...) TIA!
