Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Granted, I have no other info other than the pix on the site looked great and the interior looked top notch, I also ran a carfax that showed just one leased owner so it seemed fine.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I've been watching an auction on Ebay this past week for a Arena Red '02 996 w/ 36k miles. Its buy it now price was $46,900. I was shocked to see an '02 for that price but the auction ended and no one bit. I called Legend Auto in Texas who had the car for sale and was going to inquire about the car but it had sold for $46k. What a great deal. Granted, I have no other info other than the pix on the site looked great and the interior looked top notch, I also ran a carfax that showed just one leased owner so it seemed fine.
Question for all - For those of you who have bought a P-Car long range on Ebay did you have a PPI done on the car and if so how? Is it done during the auction time before you made a bid or is it done after? I would feel VERY nervous about dropping $46k sight unseen even if the car is under warranty. Overall, has EBAY proved to be a good source for quality 996's or should I stay away?
Thanks.....
I was following that auction, too. If you look on ebay there are several '02's with a buy it now of around $50K. Looks like in another couple of months we'll be in the upper $40K's...at least that is what I am counting on
Unless you can physically touch the car and get title in one transaction, BE VERY MUCH AFRAID!!!
Common scams include fly-by-night escrow services and people contacting you to do deals off the site.
It's a scam paradise
Ebay is as safe as the newspaper, auto trader, or any other medium used for advertisement. It is up to you to check the item or car as thoroughly as necessary before you buy it. If its a dealer selling cars on ebay, it is very easy to call and have your questions answered. But as always, if you dont feel safe making transactions on the internet, or on the phone, out of town, then dont do it. If your afraid to make a deal like that, then youre wasting your time looking and you should walk into a dealers showroom , take what you can see, and put down your money.
I bought a 911 on e-bay and it was fine. As what was said above, it's up to you to check on the car before you pay. I bought mine from a dealer in Texas (on ebay) and had no problems.
I would never buy a car before being 100% sure I did the due diligence necessary. This to me would include a proper PPI. What has been the experience of others here that have bought a car on EBAY? Were you able to have a PPI done and if so was it during the auction and before you made a bid or was it done after and the bid was pending the results? Thanks......
Seeing some of these coming in as lemmon law repos. Usually the dealer has to offer you the specific problem sheet from Porsche...not sure if all states have to notify you that the car was bought back as a lemmon though...be very careful..my view is that there is no such thing as a fantastic deal with a car.
I've sold 2 cars on Ebay. I didnt screw anybody. I lost money as you do in most car deals. But its a good market and a pretty sure sale. You can make any sort of stipulations you like between the buyer and seller. The person that wants to dictate the terms or refuses to negociate terms is the one you want to stay away from.
