Now you have smoothed out the ride, or stiffened it for serious driving....ride height can be adjusted to your taste...how YOU like it....just my thought....oh....check the forums...I have NEVER seen someone sell the PSS9's for M030, X74, H&R, etc....the ONLY time I have seen PSS9's sold is because they are parting out the car because it will be sold, or the lease is up, OR they are a serious track junky and its not stiff enough so they go to JIC's or Motons which are way too stiff for the street.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

so after reading a bunch of forums about upgrading the Suspension i learned that the ROW M030 is nice but still a little high. so i was wondering if i got the ROW M030 and switched the springs for h&r springs how much would that lower my car by. also would u guys advice that or is the ROW M030 something that shouldn't be messed with. im looking for a somewhat inexpansive Suspension upgrade that would lower my car decently but i also don't want it to ruin the handeling of the car. o and ride harshness i guess is kind of important put i understand the quality will most likely get worse

POST 2Original post

why would you buy a new suspension kit (ROW) and then throw away the springs? Just purchase a set of bilstien HD's or Sports and some H&R springs. If that isn't enough for you, buy the M030 swaybars separately or find a used set. The Bilsteins with also come with a life time warranty. Search around, people have been very satisfied with this combo. Andy

POST 3Original post

its so funny how I read these posts all the time....do yourself a favor, bite the bullet and get yourself the PSS9's...look around for specials...You can get thoe kit for under 2k and install and alignment about $500....For the ROW M030 and H&R springs...you are looking at about 1500 parts and about 800 labor....just a few hundred below the PSS9.....and with PSS9 you get the height YOU want, great ride quality, as good or better than stock depending on your settings, and lifetime warranty. The downside is they dont include sway bars....but PSS9 alone will lower the car, improve your handling, and give you a better ride....The thing about ROW M030, H&R/Bilstein/X74 etc, that I was leary about was...what if I dont like the ride height? What if I dont like the ride quality? What if I upgrade to different wheels in the future and want a different ride height? What if I like the smooth ride quality, but do a track day and want it stiffer? What if I like the stiffness on a track, but wanna take a long trip and want a smoother ride? PSS9's dampening can be adjusted in about 5 minutes. But you do see people ditching M030, H&R etc to go to PSS9...and no one ever regrets it. This was the best mod I ever did....

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

i see what u mean completely newport and i noticed from the other threads your a huge supporter of the pss9. i was originaly planning on getting the pss9 but thought maybe i could get away with something cheaper. so i guess im back to my original idea. one question about the pss9 would i be able to install them by my self (outside of alignment). i know i would be able to install the row mo30 suspension by myself. also what is this corner balancing thing i keep hearing about is that mandetory like alignment or what

POST 6Original post

If you can install ROW M030...you can install PSS9...its actually easier since the spring and shock are connected....thats why install of that system is cheaper than a seperate spring and shock....I did just springs on my Boxster and HATED the ride...it was horrible....the PSS9's are so much better....

POST 7Original post

i just got mine on...and i was on the wall for the longest time........ newport loves his pss9's and i don't blame him... it's a great system. i personally have the jic and i love these guys.... i dont' think they are too rough, but i came from the tuner mentality before i got to p-cars. look around and sometimes you're going to get lucky with a nice deal....... i say go with the pss9's or jic whichever you can get for a good deal. if you end up going with the springs and shocks, it will cost you..... roughly around $1200-$1500 and then the cost of install...... pros... no corner balance is needed but you can't adjust the height at all..... oh corner balance is when they balance your car with your weight and whatever you have that's on your car to have it "perfectly" balance.... you only need to do this one time, and it's only done on coilovers that has height adjustability....like the pss9 and the jic....

POST 8Original post

JIC's are good as well.....just more track oriented....PSS9's are more street oriented....Hardcore track guys say they are not as stiff as they want.....The JIC's are stiffer....Motons are stiffest of all.....

POST 9Original post

motons are nice... was at GMG yest. their 997's tt and GT3's and GT3 RS are the BOMB!!!!!!!

POST 10Original post

Eric and Newport, You know I love what yous have done to your P cars. 2 great looking cars tastefully done. I am in the process of transformation too and my delima was weather to go PSS9 or just H& R springs. I chose the springs and here is why. PSS9 US$2000 + $1000 min to install and aligement. That is a total of $3000 = Cad$3,600. Lots of $$ for someone that is not planning to do much track. With the H&R, the car is lowered to a nice height 1.25"..cost US$330 springs and about US$500 installed/alignment = $830 which is 1/3 the cost and leave me about US$2200 for other goodies. Do I make sense?

POST 11Original post

The installation of springs and the entire coilover rate should be the same. Either way, they will have to remove the same amount of things. If you think install for PSS9 is $1000, I dont see how installing springs only would be $500.

POST 12Original post

You know - After all this time can I ask a noob question - What are PSS9, are they a coilover system? Who manufactures them? What's with the crazy moniker? My new to me 996 is en route, and unless it has M030 that I don't know about, there's a suspension upgrade in my near future. Jake's logic makes good sense to me. Must be the Canadian in us eh Jake?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

pss9 is a coil over suspension kit made by Bilstein. Ok i have one last question about the pss9. How do you do the hight adjustments? i know u adjust the ride firmnes by twisting the little **** on the coil overs. also if u adjust the height do u have to get an alignment done each time or that four corner thing.

POST 14Original post

The coilovers install involves more labour because of the alignment process therefore more $$

POST 15Original post

I have H&R Coilovers and LOVE them. Nice firm but not harsh ride. I can adjust them up and down. Here are a set for sale for $700. I have no affiliation to the seller. https://rennlist.com/forums/for-sale-ads-member-to-member-fs-wtb-free/338625-996-gt3-coilovers.html
