Suggestion

I probably should have it looked at but the car spend more time on the track than the street so the sunroof does not get used very much....

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 evidence records excluded for query context · 0 excluded by outcome qualification · 0 adjusted by outcome qualification.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

When I had my PPI done on my 99 996, the tech mentioned that the "sunroof motor seemed to be wearing out"- He said the sunroof closed slowly- A question for you guys- has anyone ever timed how long it takes your sunroof to close? What's the norm? Just curious....Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Mine takes 10 seconds or more and has sometimes not shut...... requiring me to push/help it close. I probably should have it looked at but the car spend more time on the track than the street so the sunroof does not get used very much....

POST 3Original post

My sunroof has been opened twice in two years. THe first time was the day I bought the car, just to see if it worked. The second time was just to clean the seal around the sunroof. I never use my sunroof. I hate 'em. Big waste of headroom and money!

POST 4Original post

Use mine all the time...I'd guess that 10-15 seconds feels about right. It's a little slow, especially if you've turned the car off. I never have to help mine closed though....

POST 5Original post

I just tested mine. It took roughly 6-7 seconds to open or close. No idea if that is normal. fast, or slow.

POST 6Original post

Mine died 2 weeks ago. Was moving fine then slowed and would not close. There is a black plastic liner that got jammed in the mechanism. Dealer had to take out the headliner and replace both runners. Lots of labor$$. Good luck.

POST 8Original post

in the interest of science, I just timed it. 8 seconds each way, car not running. and even at 8 seconds, it seemed sluggish, the motor was varying in speed like the load was changing. not confidence inspiring.

POST 9Original post

Use mine all the time and it has always been really really sloooooow
