When a new OEM clutch is installed I would expect it to have the same tension as the one replaced, or it may not be adjusted correctly.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just had a new clutch installed at my dealership on a 2002 Carrera C2 with 33,000 miles is this right? Also is $1400 the going rate from a dealership to replace the clutch. Although it sure is ALOT easier to depress now. Larry

POST 2Original post

Clutch wear is VERY operationally, driver, dependent. $1400 seems reasonable for a 911, pressure plate turned or replaced?? Easier to depress --- that would really bother me, an indication that wrong pressure plate was installed, maybe?

POST 3Original post

I have 62,000 miles on the original clutch, so I guess I'm lucky so far. When a new OEM clutch is installed I would expect it to have the same tension as the one replaced, or it may not be adjusted correctly.

POST 4Original post

"Easier to depress --- that would really bother me, an indication that wrong pressure plate was installed, maybe?" on a 996 the clutch gets harder to depress as it wears. so, it will ALWAYS be easier to depress when a worn out one is replaced.

POST 5Original post

Harder to depress as it wears... NOT BLOODY LIKELY!!! Or maybe with a precision pressure measurement instrument! Think of the clutch disc thickness new vs warn... And now look at the "throw" distance of the pressure plate springs. AND the fact that it's a self-adjusting hydraulic actuator.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
