Explicit resolution reports before identified causes, performed actions and suggestions. Within each level, matching component labels precede direct query mentions and inherited thread context; successful versus unsuccessful discussion counts, owner confirmations and independent discussion support determine order. This is not a probability of success.

Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

My 02 carrera seems to need 2 quarts of oil every 3000 miles is this normal or should I have someone check it out? Thanks Larry

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks guys will contact dealer tomorrow

POST 5Original post

How many miles on your car and how hard do you drive it? If it is just after break in and the car hasn't been driven hard then this loss is possible, but it sounds abnormal based on things I've read if you are well past break-in or have driven your car hard. Excellence has a break in Q&A question this month that makes for good reading on the subject of oil loss, etc.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

car has 33,000 miles and i don't drive it that hard. it had 25,000 miles on it when i bought it. had 30k service a 3 months ago and it was topped off at that time.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Well I just spoke to 2 separate dealers Beverly Hills Porsche and Rusnak Porsche and both service advisors told me that a quart every 1000-1500 miles is normal and nothing to worry about. Am I getting the run around?

POST 8Original post

Topped off? It might be better to use the middle of the range as the starting point. How long will it take you to do 1500 miles?

POST 9Original post

Sounds like too much oil, even if driven hard...

POST 10 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

spoke to a 3rd dealer who said it's ok and thinks at the 30k service they probably didn't fill it up all the way as his dealer does that. they generally fill it up to the half way point or just above it. just can't remember if i checked it after the tune up but i think i did and it was full. well guess i'll keep an eye on it and see. thanks for all the input.
